Customer Reviewsfrom Amherst, Ohio June 1, 2009 Music Background: Film maker and video editor, amateur audio recorder Great MixerThis mixer offers exceptional features. For the price range Yamaha gives you compression on four channels and a second group out. This gives you the ability to have both a PA audience mix as well as a computer recording mix for post production CDs and videos. By selecting which microphones go to which buses you can control what each mix sounds like. This mixer also has many RCA jacks for line level devices and channel inserts for effects. This means you can have either a single channel with one effect by using an insert or have multiple channels run through a single effects processor externally. Or both can be done.Sliders are accurate and smooth. My only complaint is that the main mix out does not have independent left and right volume sliders. The stereo and group out each have one slider to adjust left and right volumes together. Typically this isn't a problem but in some cases it is nice to have. One other thing to keep in mind is that all 6 XLR jacks have one phantom power switch. Again not a big problem unless you are using wireless sets with XLR cable connections and condenser mics at the same time. Also this mixer does not have an analog to digital converter such as usb. I use a Y insert cable from 1/4 inch ts to 1/8 inch trs to get the sound into my laptop sound card and record with Audacity freeware. The sound quality from using this mixer and a Creative 24-bit sound card is really great. |
