"I started building a full-blown recording studio in my garage in October of '07 with a control room wired for 5.1, a drum room, and an iso room. The Auralex 2" Mineral Fiber was a MAJOR part of my studio design. To help isolate the rooms from each other and (more importantly) to help keep sound from getting out to my neighbors, I used Mineral Fiber instead of standard insulation. The end result is significantly better isolation (when used in an appropriate wall design) with incredibly improved acoustics within the room itself. By the way when using Mineral Fiber, make sure you use "stringers" in between your studs. Stringers are simply small sections of the same material as your frame (in most cases, a 2x4 or 2x6 wood stud) to help provide a more solid, less resonant wall structure. Because the Auralex Mineral Fiber is so rigid, it too helps with further support of the wall frame."
