Male vocals excel much better then female ones however, at least with my experience using the mic so far. This mic has a very nice personality which makes it special to use on vocals IMO. Also, the mic comes with a handy carry case which is padded inside making for a perfectly safe way to travel around with it. A hard mount is provided however this mic would benefit from a shockmount much more. All in all, i am very pleased with this mic and I plan to use it on plenty of lead vocals. Carson McClainA go-to mic for the home studio musician. You will be very impressed with the quality of this mic. I have found with all of the Groove Tubes mics you are getting way more quality than you pay for. From the pop filter to the shockmount all the way to the circuits inside the mic you are getting a mic that is worth double the price at least. The MD1B FET sounds great on singer/songwriters, acoustic instruments, and rock or jazz vocals. A great mic at a great price. 
Forrest PowellI took an MD1BFET to the home studio about two months ago to shoot out against some other mics around the same price range, and I couldn't believe the quality on vocals. I have become a huge advocate of Aspen Pittman's company in the past year, and despite my predilections since they focus on tubes most of the time, the quality was outstanding. Nickel-core transformers win out again!

Anyone who feels that only tube mics offer warmth and fullness need to listen to this mic. It has a real nice presence between 2-5kHz.
