I purchased Mbox about 6 month ago. This is my first recording system,February 1, 2005 Music Background: and I would like to tell you honestly – I am upset. Here is the story. Many people know that, tech support play hug... read more [+]e role, if you are new to digital recording industry. Digidesign offer new customers only 3 month of free support. Then you gotta pay.... A lot. I contacted Digidesign tech support many times during first two month. In many cases I was satisfied, but not always. Digidesign producing high quality $100 000 PRO Tools HD system . Mbox is like microwave from Boeing factory, or let’s say secondary importance product. No one cares about you, they cares about your pocket!!. Recently my Pro Tools LE crashed few times during recording sessions. Then finally my Mbox broke up. I have a distortion sound when connecting any device to Mbox. If you don’t have tech support contract, phone calls will cost you $3 per minute. This was my FIRST and LAST purchase of Digidesign products. Now !! Most serious Mbox disadvantage: 1. Pro Tools Le software works only with Mbox, forget about any other audio interface. 2. Mbox does not have MIDI in/out 3. Pro Tools LE effects (reverb for example) – is a very basic thing. My suggestions: If you would like to record real stuff, this is not for you. Buy Sonar,or Logic as well as separate audio interface like MOTU or EMU. Digidesign will suck your pocket until you are will consider other options. Conclusions: Mbox –it’s not about digital recording, it’s about a money!!!. close [-] make sure that you have a good computer!

a minimum 368 MB of ram is required to have pro tools run "properly". there is alot of latency but it cant be adjusting with a turn of the knob. plug ins are great. worth the money if you wa... read more [+]nt to get into protools. but if you have the money get the 002rack..either way you will benefit greatly from it and the sweetwater team will always be there to help you alnog the way! close [-]

As an American producer living in Sydney, I have the luxury of working with some of the most talented, undiscovered vocalists in the world. What I've found is that in our busy society here in Sy... read more [+]dney, we can't make the time to get to the studio. Having the Mbox allows me to travel to the vocalist(s). Armed with the Mbox, my custom built laptop, mics, powered monitors, surge protecting power strip and a few other cables, I can get what I need, often when the vocalist is on their lunch break. All I need is a quiet area, a power outlet, and a table and I have a state of the art studio. With the software provided, I can reduce the background noise and get a great sound. I can then mix and master everything on the kitchen table if I choose. Working with other producers is now easier. I can work on my ideas and present them to my collaborators and go from there. I've worked with Pro Tools for years and held off venturing outside the studio but the Mbox allows me to set up "my porta-studio" anywhere.
