500W 4x10 Combo Bass Amp with Tweeter, 4-band EQ with Contour, Limiter, and XLRWhere's the Beef? It's in the little box - the Gallien-Krueger MB410. The 4x10 form factor is preferred weaponry for many bassists. Wouldn't it be great if someone made a loud, great-sound combo amp that's lightweight and no larger than a 4x10 speaker cab? Someone, in fact, does: GK. A hot addition to their popular MB Series, the MB410 delivers kickin' 4x10 mojo in a modern, compact design. Employing the same digital amp technology used in all MB combos and heads, neodymium drivers give you juiced performance while keeping curb weight to a liftable 49 pounds.
The GK MB410 gives you powerful deep bass, and the onboard (bypassable) tweeter gives your notes clear articulation for modern full-range bass tone. The design of the integrated 500W digital power amplifier further reduces weight while serving up fearsome volume for an amp of this size. GK has fitted the MB410 with the pro amenities you expect. A defeatable limiter lets you control your dynamics, and an XLR DI injects your sound straight into the board or PA. Active 4-band EQ (with contour) lets you sculpt your bass to achieve your signature sound. And a headphone jack allows you to use the MB410 for quiet practice. How's that for versatility?
With the MB410, Gallien-Krueger has effectively trimmed the fat from the traditional 4x10 combo. The result is a lean, mean bass performance machine. You'll like it.

Well worth the money
by M.B Morris from Jasper GAThis is a very well made amp, could not ask for more. Makes a cheap bass sound good and a good bass better. You can make this amp sound any way you would like. The control panel is very easy to use to... read more [+] get the sound an tone you want. The -10db control come in handy when going from low out put to high out put basses, but when you change from low out put basses to high out put basses dont forget to hit the this button or every thing in the house will move. With the Aux in you can play CD's or MP3, an can be used with headphones as well. With 500 watts an 4 10 inch speakers expect a lot of sound. Tone still sounds good on low volume or high. Thanks Sweetwater an Brent for all you have done for me with getting my money worth, an Gallien-Krueger for making a great amp. close [-]

Good Rockin' Amp
by Tom from Austin, TxI finally got a chance to get this amp in a nice loud band situation. 2 guitarist, each using a 2x12 combo playing classic rock. For lightweight and high volume this amp definitely makes the grade, ev... read more [+]en with a 5 string it has strong tight lows. Being a sealed cabinet it has a bit of SVT flavor you can't get with a ported cab and at 49 lbs it's easy to move. The overall tone is fairly natural with a slight mid-range bump. So it is not HI-FI sounding like some brands but will cut through guitars just fine. YMMV but here are my complaints considering this is not a terribly inexpensive amp. It lacks pre-amp out and power-amp in connections, an extension speaker connection, an effects loop or a tuner out. I personally don't use effects loops or tuner outs, most combos these days run at 4-ohms and don't have an extension speaker option(annoying trend) but I really would like line-level pre-amp and power-amp connections at this price point. There are times when I just prefer to use a different pre-amp such as a tech21 BDDI. I did not find the boost, limiter, or contour switches to be useful to me. If you like the GK sound and don't mind being a little hemmed-in on expansion options, because you'll almost have to buy one of their powered extension cabs for a matching bottom (or buy an A/B box / splitter and run a 2nd amp), then it is a really good amp. For some folks/situations it will be perfect amp. Classic and old school hard rockers will love it.

Music Background: a little bit of everything.
Full Disclosure: I purchased a demo model at a significantly reduced price. I am not sure I would pay the full new price for this amp with the aforementioned shortcomings. I am satisfied with my purchase though and as always Sweetwater's service is second to none. close [-]
