Compact Desktop Monitors with Surprising Power!

Recording on your computer at home? Here's a compact monitor solution with more power than most! Edirol's MA-15D Stereo Reference Monitors are ideal for computer-based recording artists seeking a high-quality, powerful set of monitor speakers to use in a relatively confined space. The MA-15D also delivers crystal-clear audio reproduction.

Edirol MA-15D Stereo Reference Monitors at a Glance:
  • Great bass response from built-in Bass Enhancer
  • Digital inputs
  • Front-panel volume and tone controls
  • Connect two sources at the same time

Great bass response from built-in Bass Enhancer
The MA-15D offers a built-in Bass Enhancer that operates on psychoacoustic principles to convert low frequencies into a series of overtones, which the human ear cannot distinguish from the original low frequencies. This allows a listener to perceive bass frequencies outside of the normal range of the speaker cone, without overdriving the woofer. With the Bass Enhancer the MA-15Ds offer a strong low end in a very compact set of reference speakers. In addition the MA-15D provides a Sub-Out port to connect a subwoofer for isolating very low frequencies.

Digital inputs
The MA-15Ds offer input from digital sources through either the coaxial or optical S/PDIF ports, supporting up to 24-bit/192kHz sources. With this, you can connect digital sources directly to your speakers, keeping an unadulterated audio signal all the way to the power amplifier in your speakers. It's a great way to hear exactly what you have recorded!

Front-panel volume and tone controls
With the MA-15D's conveniently placed volume and tone controls, you can adjust settings directly from the front of the speaker. Compact desktop monitors rarely offer this level of control right on the speaker.

Connect two sources at the same time
You can also connect two different sources directly into the MA-15Ds, allowing you to listen to audio from any two line-level sources. For example, you could connect both your computer and your stereo to the MA-15Ds, and listen to the audio output of a CD while you play along with a soft synth. The MA-15Ds offer independent volume control for each of these inputs, effectively taking the place of a small desktop mixer for monitoring. You can also plug headphones directly into the MA-15Ds and mix without disturbing other people.

Edirol MA-15D Stereo Reference Monitors Features:
  • Bass Enhancer
  • Up to 24-bit/192kHz D/A conversion for S/PDIF optical & coaxial input
  • Subwoofer output port for bass boost
  • 15 watts per channel
  • 3 independent source inputs; 1/8" Line, RCA Line, and S/PDIF (optical & coaxial)
  • Front-controlled Bass, Treble, and 2 independent volume settings
  • 4" woofer and 2" tweeter
  • 2-way bass-reflex enclosure
  • 1/8" headphones port
  • Magnetically shielded
  • 6-3/4" W x 8-1/2" D x 9-7/8 H

Monitoring in a small space is easy with the MA-15!

I got this monitors in an emergency (my old monitors got broken) and I didn't expected much at first, but as soon as I plugged them to my E-MU 1212m via the digital optical output, I was blown away ! ... read more [+]I have been using monitors for over 20 years, and believe me: there is nothing in this price range, better than the MA-15Ds. They sound crisp, clear and incredible loud for its size, and they look cool ! I recommend them 100% close [-]

i was really in 2 minds whether to buy M-Audio studiophile AV40 or Edirol MA-15D. after reading many reviews regarding the above i decided to for the latter. no regrets! i am a part time dj. once i co... read more [+]nnected my mixer and kaoss pad 3 to the speakers, i was blown away by the crispness and quality of the sound but unfortunately the bass isn't satisfactory even though therez an option of adding an sub-woofer to the speaker.i can't expect much compared to the money i paid to grab these.overall, these are very good compact/clear speakers. a must buy for all those who are into computer music and gaming. close [-]

I got these speakers for my home video editing system, which I use for professional purposes. I should start by saying I know the difference between these MA-15Ds and the kind of monitors find at hig... read more [+]h-end recording and mixing studios. You are comparing a speaker pair that cost $200 to speakers worth thousands. Thats not a fair comparison.

These are SOLID speakers for doing offline editorial and mixing. I am hearing a lot more from these from my previous setup, which was an amp with Yamaha speakers. I think Id even feel confident doing a final mix on these bad boys if budget didnt allow a studio final mix.

For the price, these things are really great, and I think they are going to be super popular with editors who do creative editorial work. close [-]

I love these...

by Fred Moore from St. Louis, MO

Music Background:
Let me preface this review by saying I am not a musician. I use these speakers to listen to music via iTunes from my laptop using the M-Audio Tranist (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Transit/)... read more [+]. Previously, I had a pair of the Edirol MA-10D (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MA10D/), which, were decent, but the bass was non-existent, and they just couldn’t get loud enough. I don’t know what Edirol did, but for a mere extra 5-watts of power per speaker, these things get LOUD. I love the fact that they are self-powered with digital inputs. I don’t use the “extended bass” or whatever they call the feature, but the fact these things have a subwoofer out, is awesome. I have the sub-out going to a cheap (i.e., crappy) Yamaha subwoofer (YST-SW015). In addition, I have both monitors sitting on a pair of Auralex MoPads (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MoPAD/), and the woofer is resting on Auralex’s GRAMMA (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/GRAMMA/). Granted I know nothing of Pro-Audio, but for the price (especially compared to a Logitech, or similar computer speaker set ups) these things rock. close [-]

Our Customers Say...

When it came time to start from scratch with the studio, I had a lot of questions. The Sales Engineers I've worked with are really friendly and patient, and the guidance they provided was invaluable; they basically helped build the studio.
