Intelligent Gating That Won't Kill Your Sustain

Say goodbye to the noise in your guitar or bass rig with the MXR M135 Smart Gate pedal! The M135 Smart Gate lets every nuance of your playing through, thanks to its intelligent gate speed. When you're holding a chord, the M135 Smart Gate reacts slowly so your sustain is never cut off. Get into fast palm-muted fury, and the M135 Smart Gate snaps into action, adding incredible definition to your playing. And three operation modes let you pick the best setting for the sound of your rig. That's probably why it's the go-to noise gate pedal for Zoltan Bathory from 5 Finger Death Punch, and Frank Iero from My Chemical Romance. Cut out the noise and keep your tone, with the MXR M135 Smart Gate pedal.

MXR M135 Smart Gate Pedal Features at a Glance:
  • Noise gate pedal for electric guitar or bass
  • Intelligent gating means the gate reacts slowly when you're holding sustained notes, and faster when your playing speeds up
  • Variable threshold lets you control how much gating is taking place
  • Three operation modes: Hiss for high-frequency noise, Mid for noisy guitar amps, and Full for wide-range signals and bass rigs
  • Built to last
The MXR M135 Smart Gate pedal gives you transparent noise gating that never cuts off your sustain!

does it's job

Yes it works, not a bad pedal and does the job.

Great pedal

Purchased this pedal hoping to get rid of all the background noise. Worked perfectly.

I Like It More Than The Decimator

I had the Decimator G- String II, big four cable mess that like most gates can't stop hiss while you're rinning out sustain.

I think maybe it can for me because I found my sweet spot with it set to the mid mode and the trigger dial at 1 O'clock and I'm not using a ton of gain.

I hear no tone suck either at that setting.
At the full mode selected and dial all the way up I hear a definite tone suck and less natural decay.
So there is a limit to how well it works basically.

It's smaller, less mess, and amazes me.
I love it.

Great Pedal

Geez this thing is a tank. Good weight, compact size. Doesn't affect my tone like my old NS-2, and has more options than the ISP Decimator series. Comparing it with the Decimator G-String, the Smart Gate closes faster when riffing but doesn't ruin my sustain when holding a note. Guess that's why it is "smart" lol. I highly recommend it.

The most boring and amazing pedal

This has to be the most boring guitar pedal in the world but is beyond worth it. I have a couple different distortion pedals that generate unwanted noise. Once the pedal is setup, it just need to be turned onto work. Once the pedal is on, it can just be ignored until it needs to be turned off. Clean, chorus, and reverb signals do not need to be altered and the Smartgate should be turned off because it will reduce the volume of the signal which is already softer in comparison with distorted signals. This pedal is very easy to use and dramatically reduces noise in the signal without compromising wanted distortion.
Music background: Guitarist/vocalist and auditory scientist
