Expand your creativity

Having worked with Protools several times, and having owned Cubase, Garageband, and even Logic 7, I can safely say that this is the best software suite that I have had the pleasure of using. I'm running Logic studio on a Macbook Pro 2.16 Ghz w/2GB of Ram.
I am using Logic both on the road, and in my studio, and the interface makes recording and mixing a breeze. On screen, everything is laid out intuitively and neatly without sacrificing the ability to powerfully control and edit whatever item you are working with.
On the road, I'm using Logic Studio with the Stealth plug USB as my interface.
In the studio, I'm using the Focusrite Pro 26 I/O.
Both work flawlessly with the software.
Logic studio comes with a mind blowing set of plug-ins and software instruments. When recording guitar tracks, I can run direct into the interface, and using only software effects, I can get almost any guitar tone that I am looking for.
I write and record a mix of progressive rock, jazz, and alternative, so I need a wide variety of tones and effects. It has everything from delays, distortions, compressors, pitch shifters, filters, phasers, and much more.
For my guitar rig, I am running a Boss GT-8 through a mesa boogie maverick...and I usually just end up using the software effects for recording because they sound so good!
For software instruments, you can find almost anything you are looking for. I have used pianos, synths, sitars, kalimbas, strings, and all kinds of rhythm and percussion...and I haven't even scratched the surface. I've owned it for six months now, and I still haven't even been able to get through all of the instrument sounds that are on board.
They all sound realistic and full, and even the onboard presets are amazing.
As long as you realize that you have to adjust your playing to fit the instrument (i.e. You can't play a sax like a piano), then they all sound extremely authentic. One that I was blown away by is the Steinway piano patch. After listening to Lyle Mays on Pat Metheny's "Speaking of now", and then turning on the Steinway patch in Logic, I couldn't believe how accurate it was!
On top of all of this, you have Mainstage, which is a wonderful live application for all of logic's effects and plug ins. You can build your own on- screen controls, and make a bank of patches to use in a live setting. You can switch settings and adjust any parameter that you want all in real-time.
I've used Mainstage both for guitar and keyboard/MIDI applications in a live setting, and it works great.
Soundtrack Pro, and waveburner are just even more on this already overwhelming pile of goods that come with this suite.
Finally, I can't say enough about the price tag and the value for the money.
For mixing, mastering, editing, recording, writing, playing, and creating, Logic has an amazing set of tools to enable your creativity, and take you to the next level.
Logic Studio Upgrade

I now the product finally installed. I can't believe how easy the upgrade was. The newly included template helps to start making music right away. It includes many genres of music. The included Jam Packs are well worth the upgrade cost. The Soft Synth blows away anything offered by Digidesign Protools bundles. It is the best DAW bundle available on the Market Today. Watch out Protools users.

Wow I didn't think they could really improve on such a terrific program but this upgrade is beautiful. It is so easy to lay your ideas down. I am using an old mac mini 1.5 ghz with a gig of ram on it. Logic studio runs with no problem on my machine. I can't wait to get one of those newer macs with at least 2 gigs of memory to see how this baby moves. Everything loads up so much easier and the sound engine sounds so much better. I swear this thing is literally making me wanna sell of my gear and get a better computer. If you combine this logic studio with an apogee, 2 gig core duo mac,and maybe one of these big 3 keyboards you probably wont ever need to purchase another piece of hardware for your studio. There is absolutely no learning curve with this. Just purchase upgrade to logic studio and get back to work.
Beautiful
