I had the pleasure of testing one of the first revisions of this preamp and it is nothing short of amazing. Simply the best preamp that I have heard to date. Period. If you have the 500 series bug, everybody needs a pair of these.

Great sound (cont review)

........after using it for months now I really like what this thing can do on vocals....
I'm really digging how I can shape the sound of the vocals. The feedback bias knob really brings out the harmonics in the vocals and adds huge color. When the pre is used without the feedback engaged the output sounds very clean. This is useful because not everyone sounds the same and sometimes the vocals need that extra edge... With this pre you are able to shape sound to your liking.
Overdriven on synths it sounds massive. Chandler distortion has a very unique sound in a good way.

Great Preamp!!!

I was weary of this pre with all the hype that was surrounding it, but Chandler has always backed up the hype in the past.... So I got one for my Lunchbox. Wow. Great tone, amazing flexibility. I wish every pre had this type of flexibility.

The bottom end is absolutely thick and warm as anything I've tried. Does great for bass and guitars. Also smooth as silk on the high end. Push the gain and lower the output for some drive. Lower the gain and increase output for smooth headroom. Play with the Feedback knob to get more harmonic content.

The possibilities really are endless on this one. It is becoming my go-to on electric guitars, has been getting a LOT of action on vocals, and I am sure it will be phenominal on snares to add thickness and warmth along with bite.

More of these will be on the way as soon as I save up some pesos....

Huge sound!

Even the digital synths and vst plugins sound much better. I ran a digital synth through the LD the 1st time and I was just blown away. Couldn't believe that a digital synth can sound so good. Big lows and nice crisp highs without being harsh. I had to buy the 2nd pair two days later. After going back and forth on the right pre to buy finally I pulled the trigger. Very happy with my purchase

Superb!

First of all props to chandler limited, I have always had an eye on getting something from chandler and this is my first product from them. I am positive it won't be my last. This pre is awesome sound so smooth, and then when you want it crank the feedback and input gain and it distorts nicely. I have use this just a little bit now but its great on vocals. I even did some ukulele sounded so good. Pre's are all on the persons preference but I don't see how you couldn't be pleased with this.

Did not like this at all.

I read many reviews on this preamp. They were all amazing so i decided I would try it out. I have API 512's and a Great River ME-1NV already. This preamp sounded great on electric guitar (distorted Marshall) but once there was palm muting it would peak out the pre...so id back it off and it would loose the crispy sound it gave the top end. Thats what problem i found. once you got the sound you wanted, it would peak out too easy! Not good distortion, BAD distortion. So the only way i could use it was clean, when i got the pre to get some different tones happening....and then im looking at my APIs saying.....why arent i just using API!? So i returned it.
