Premier combination of tonewoods Gibson gave this J-165 an incredible Sitka spruce top, for the full voice you would expect. To complement and enhance the Sitka voice, the J-165 has a beautiful all-maple body. Other appointments include a maple neck, a rosewood short-scale fingerboard adorned with parallelogram inlays, a rosewood bridge, an abalone rosette, and nickel mini Grover tuners. L.R. Baggs Element Active Acoustic Pickup System The J-165 comes with L.R. Baggs's popular Element Active Acoustic Pickup System, which features a low-profile undersaddle transducer that's proven more stable and durable than many standard ribbon-type pickups. Combined with an onboard preamplifier with an unobtrusive and removable volume control, mounted just inside the J-165's soundhole, the Element is a tremendous performer. Its sleek and effective design removes unnecessary internal components to enhance the coupling between the pickup and the guitar and to improve the sensitivity of the transducer for a robust, lively, and natural acoustic sound, with excellent dynamics and delicate high end. The Element on the J-165 works with a standard 9V battery, which is housed inside the guitar in L.R. Bagg's new "Battery Bagg." Classic Gibson Craftsmanship Gibson's reputation as a fine guitar builder dates back to the late 1800s. Handcrafted since day one by many of the most skilled luthiers around, Gibson acoustic guitars have inspired countless players around the world. When you pick up the J-165, you know you're getting the finest tonewoods, quality hardware, and incredible attention to detail — these instruments are built to sound great and stand the test of time. After moving from Kalamazoo, MI, to Nashville, TN (where Gibson electric guitars continue to be made), Gibson finally settled their acoustic operation in Bozeman, MT, where they continue handcrafting some of the finest guitars on the planet. This Gibson J-165 is an amazing-sounding acoustic guitar — and a handcrafted sight to behold!

Just received my J-165. What a beauty! The short scale is incredibly easy to play. The radius on the edge of the fret board is a noticable improvement in ease of chording. Respectable output with a moderately heavy strum. Fantastic guitar for singer/songwriter . Excellent note definition for mmore intricate parts. That clear Gibson tone just melts me everytime I pick it up. It needs a professional set up. A few of the frets are a bit rough on the lower edge. Slight buzz on low E at the G position. As good as it plays out of the box, I can't wait to get it back from a pro setup. close [-]
