ReviewsSuperb Acoustic Guitar Amplifier !

Let me start by saying I that this is ANY acoustic guitarist's dream amp!April 19, 2012 Music Background: Hobbyist I've owned various acoustic combo amp's (fishman loudbox, fishman performer pro, fender acoustasonic, etc.) , a... read more [+]ll good amps in their respective price ranges. My most recent amp was the Fishman PRO-LBX-300, and I thought that with the multiple speakers including a tweeter that it had to be great, however that amp and the others were missing something in the overall reproduction of sound of my guitars( Steven Curtis Chapman Taylor Signature guitar and Takamine 2011 "Iki" Limited Edition, yes it's a gorgeous guitar!). My thinking behind purchasing this amp was that I needed something completely different and i wasn't going to let price scare me away. The slightly tricky part for me was that I couldn't try this new amp before buying it. However I've been dealing with Sweetwater for some time now and they are just fantastic in the customer service area, so I dived in and made the purchase. So... when amp arrived, I plugged in my SCC Taylor guitar and made generic settings on the amp, turned it on and started playing (no tweaking, yes I know it's an unfair test, but I wanted to be impressed immediately). At this point I am struggling to describe what was the finest sound i had ever heard my SSC Taylor make. I knew immediately that this amp is in a completely different class than the others. Next I began tweaking the amps settings only to find that the sound improved on what I thought couldn't possibly get better. The Garrett Null notch filter was freaking awesome and the eq controls gave me amazing flexibility in the sound. Fingerpicking from soft to forceful had such clarity and tone that I lost track of time for nearly two hours. I moved on to flatpicking using various pick's and again I found it hard to stop playing through this amp. I can say with absolute certainty that the unique speaker design and discrete components have really paid off in terms of tone. Gob's and gob's of tone. I tried my Takamine next, which is a guitar that plays better amplified than not amplified and has woods that are completely different the Taylor and different electronics (cool tube). Again amazingly beautiful sound compared to any of my previous amps. I started off by saying that my old amps were good in their own right, but maybe it would be more appropriate to say that, just as there is an amazing difference between $500 guitars and $3000 guitars, their is an amazing difference between a $400 acoustic amp and and $1199 acoustic amp. If you can afford this beautiful looking and sounding amp, you will find your creativity and tone being taken to new levels immediately! By far the best amp I've ever purchased. close [-] Fantastic Acoustic Guitar Amp

I own this amp; it compares equally to two other high-end amps I've auditioned (and blows the others away, IMO); the Fishman SA-220 SoloAmp (which I also own) and the SR Jam 150 (which I auditioned at... read more [+] a local music store). I own a signature amp, which was upgraded to current specs at LR Baggs; it is clear and powerful, has a very nice spring reverb, and a full pre-amp section based on LR Bagg's famous preamp/DI'sMay 20, 2011 Music Background: retired semi-professional The sound is detailed (I play a nylon string Takamine), and balanced across the acoustic range. It is a gorgeous piece of furniture; I wouid prefer it on-stage to the SoloAmp (although I prefer the SA for coffee-house, small restaurants because of its form factor) Acoustic amps in general have made leaps and bounds in the last five years, and this is an excellent example of the progress ..... close [-] |
