Very Sweet

I had just played a LP selling for 2,500 dollars at a local music store. My brown baby was on the way. I asked the person who handed me the guitar and was a lead player himself if he had an opinion of the studio models and he just dismissed them as hollow bodies. I played on the full bodies and heavy, high gloss black LP for awhile and was impressed with the tone. I had never played and LP before and enjoyed the way the tone controls, with their treble roll off only, worked. 2 days later I got my faded brown studio and fell in love. I love this guitar and would not trade it for the more expensive one. The unique Sweetwater ability to view and choose your guitar was why I chose them over other sites with the same price.

The tone and looks of this guitar make it one of the best bigger money purchases I have ever made.

I am delighted with my guitar and experience with Sweetwater.

Great guitar!!!!

Received my guitar this past Saturday. What an amazing instrument! My very first American-made guitar. Plays amazing and sounds even better. Just a real treat to be able to study the guitar on this instrument. My Sales Engineer Ryan Sloan was very professional and paid great attention to detail. Couldn't be happier. There can't be a better value for a new American-made guitar out there. Period.

Excellent Guitar

This is a great guitar. The burstbuckers sound really nice and it plays like a dream. The chambered body makes it about as heavy as a Strat, unlike an Epiphone LP that I previously owned that weighed a ton. I like how Sweetwater's website allows you to choose the particular guitar you want, since the finishes on this model are all over the place.

Killer Axe!

I am loving this thing! It was in tune out of the gig bag!!! I ended up putting some heavier gauge strings on it...after that it needed a minor set up (mainly action and intonation), but this thing is a rock!!! Such a good buy!

Looks Great....Sounds Great

This guitar absolutely looks great. I have had it for about a month now and continue to love its rich brown color. I am so glad i didn't spend another couple grand on a fancier looking guitar. I have played it through a Fender VibroChamp and it just sings beautifully. Highly recommended if you are looking for a Gibson without the enormous price tag.

For the Price, Good Guitar

Like always, thanks Alex Morales, for me receiving this guitar quickly from Sweetwater. I think it is a good guitar, that looks better than the pictures and plays better than I thought. I use to own a ES-345 a long time ago in a Country that use to be different. I now am potentially a criminal because of the recent Fed raid on Gibson again just recently.
Besides the '59 profile neck that exist on this guitar vs. the other necks, it fits my big synth hands better then the '60's neck I remember on my long gone ES-345. And, and just think, with the chambered hollow body, you can hear this guitar without an amp, almost like a semi-hollow guitar (previously owned years ago in a land that was quite different back when). No, it does not have the more expensive better woods making the more expensive guitars, but then I am a piano player (on a synth nowadays) that can at least tune a guitar, and still will set up the guitar the way I want it. Sure, the humbuckers are not the best either, but for us low-life people (and again there are reasons for that) it will be fun to play the Blues to the Feds if they ever listened to anyone in the first and last place. Plus if you do not like the pickups which sound good also on this guitar, Sweetwater sells the other pickups you can change those out to. All in all, it's a Studio Version of a Les Paul that for the price, can not be beat, but please try and stay on the beat. (ya, guitar players, ya, that's you). Later on then........................stay tuned!

Owned it 7 months now- Love it!

Bought the Faded Brown model in May and have no buyer's remorse whatsoever! Incredible sound! A/B'd it next to my producer's Les Paul Studio (his is the wine red Studio model with gold hardware, maple cap and 490/498 pickups) and The Faded Brown Bomber held its own! The mahoghany cap and the Burstbucker pickups give it a sound all its own. Plays clean to downright raunchy and all points in between. $799 for a beautiful sounding (and beautifully vintage looking) American made Les Paul. The Faded models come with a gig bag, so get a hardshell case. Enjoy!

My Guitar

I've owned fenders and PRS's. This is my first Gibson. I can't speak for the fancy $3k guitars, or any other gibson, but as for my brown LP Studio Faded I can't think of a guitar i'd rather have. I love everything about it. The case (yes, even after a year of ownership it still smells like vanilla when I open the case), beauty (not flash... beauty), workmanship, range and quality of sound... this guitar has opened doors of creativity. Sure it isn't as bright as a tely or strat untill i toss my eq pedal and roll back the volume... more sustain (even unpluged) than any electric guitar i've ever played, beef, soul, and tone that can't be added if it's not there to begin with. Some call it too warm, to this or that. Tone shaping is much easier, with better quality results, when removing frequencies, and pretty much impossible to sound good when trying to add something that isn't in the sound. That's why I consider this guitar to be HIGHLY flexible. I love this guitar for what it is, how it has required me to grow as a player, and what it can do that I haven't yet learned but will. Buy this guitar. If you wan't bright telly/strat tone get an eq pedal. You will easily get the sounds you want with a little study/practice.

Gibson Les Paul Studio Worn Brown w/ Burstbucker Pickups

Incredible.... The sound just blows me away. Arrived in pristine condition, intonation perfect- having trouble putting it down!!!! The worn brown finish is very cool. The Burstbucker p'ups on the worn finish models are extremely warm and vintage sounding. This guitar is the "yin" to my Telecasters' "twang"!!! Thanks again to Matt Adams & Sweetwater!!!

Fantastic Guitar

For the price, you couldn't find any better deal anywhere except if you play metal.
Great pickups, easy smooth neck and fretboard, sounds and feels fantastic.
Action and intonation was great right out of the box.
Unbelievable sustain and resonance. really.
And moreover, believe me when I say This guitar is an absolute beauty. Mine is faded brown.
Couldn't be happier.

Les Paul Studio Faded Cherry

This is an excellent guitar for $800. A Les Paul for less. Made in the USA it screams high quality. I have the beautiful cherry finish. It caught my eye because it looks like a classic instrument. I am thrilled with my Les Paul Studio. The sound is fantastic, and it is easy to play. The case is high quality too. When I first opened it I noticed it even smelled good like candy. I found the neck was just the right size, and it feels perfectly natural in my hands. I still haven't scratched the surface of what this guitar can do, but I look forward to playing it everyday. I would recommend this guitar to anyone.

Pictures don't do it justice

OK, you've read this comment a zillion times before, I know, but this guitar is a looker in person! I may seem a little subtle, yes, but gorgeous. I was a little worried about how the dark brown would look with bright shiney pickups, but no more! There is a bit of sheen to the finish, and the pickups are sort of subdued (not bright) just like the picture portrays. Nice effect.

The satin finish takes absolutely nothing away from the appearance or playability of this guitar (I actually prefer this neck finish to that on my other LP, a curly maple special). I find this finish less "sticky" than the higher gloss finishes so it's easier for me to move up and down on the neck. Maybe that's just me, and maybe that'll change over time, well see. But is sure is nice.

And it performs as you'd expect. It started howling as I plugged it in (my kids loved that!) I had to start with a little Zep - hey, it's a LP! - then tried some Eric Johnson, some Stevie Ray, some Wishbone Ash, and some Heart. I think it prefers Rock. So let's see, it looks good, the pickups rock and you can still play a nice, clean accoustic-type set if you want,... oh, the action is light and low as you'd expect on a LP. I wouldn't call it the sweetest of the sweet (that title goes to an L-6 I played back in the '70's, but we've all got our favorites), but judging this guitar simply by the pricetag would be a big mistake!

This isn't the most expensive or prestigious LP out there, but it may well become the most popular. Quality and appearance are both there in abundance. It plays great, and I've got nothing but "Wow!" from my friends when they first see it. (Somehow, it even seems lighter than my other guitars...probably the newness factor.)

If you're looking for Gibson Les Paul value at a price that's affordable, or just a different finish for variety in your personal collection, I think this is it. Hey, and I got it 2 days earlier than expected; I ordered Friday and Monday it was here. How's that for service? Monty, Sweetwater, thanks again for a sweet deal on a superb guitar.

Gibson Les Paul Studio ( Worn Brown )

I got Mine about 2 mos. ago and I LOVE IT !!!! It plays smooth, sounds great through My Fender Twin Reverb Tube 65' reissue . The only thing I'm going to do to it is add a Bigsby B70 so I have the Tremolo. I also play a Strat and play a lot of Pink Floyd so I need it. If your wanting to step up to the real deal in guitar's, this is it.

Love this Axe

I would love it at 5 stars, but I would buy it if it came with a "real" case, not a "Gig Bag"

Best bang for your buck Studio

This guitar really captures the spirit of the Studio model.... all tone and no frills. It has those dark, percussive clean tones and that classic Les Paul growl when you crank the gain up.

I'm sure as you know Gibson has gone from rosewood fretboards to baked maple. I still can't find any discernable difference between the two aesthetically or tone-wise. The baked maple has a slightly smoother look, but to be honest I don't think most people would recognize the difference unless you told them.

The pickups are great too. Its rare that I buy a guitar and am satisfied with the stock pickups. The neck pickup has that prototypical warm, chewy, almost bell like tone for single note work. The Burstbucker Pro in the bridge is great as well for pretty much any style. I was most impressed with the high gain tones that I got from it. Its very tight and defined even with heaps of distortion.

Can't beat this with a stick!!

I've had this a few weeks now & all i can say is it's great. It is lighter that a classic or custom but the pickups are hot, hot, HOT!! The neck is just about like my SG & it plays very well. If you want a Les Paul for a great price this guitar is for you!!!
