ReviewsFantastic Guitar !
by Will Kenworthy from La Grande, OR USA
When I ordered the LP Standard I admit I was nervous about the body chambering. No more doubt, this guitar has incredible tone and sustain! It's way better than the 79 Les Paul I owned in my youth. Th... read more [+]e neck is a dream to play. Love the finish and the top. Also the finish on the neck. Can't say enough about the neck. It isn't just comfortable, it's inviting ! It's calling my name right now "come play me!" Add in all the other improvements, locking tuners, the new pots-terrific, they turn smooth and stay where you put the dial, the burstbuckers-wow, won't need to change pickups here, they are very toneful. the fretboard setup- terrific to start and better every day that I play it. the binding on the neck makes it oh so smooth, the frets are tall but bending is so smooth and easy, you get terrific sounds from the lightest touch to all out jamming! the weight of the guitar is easily less than half the weight of the old ones and sounds better! This guitar is a winner ! close [-]

by Dan de Gruchy from Bay Area California
I recently purchased one of the new Standards and I love the guitar. First and foremost the locking tuners. Gone are the awful klusons; repalced with Grover locking tuners. BIG difference. The gui... read more [+]tar is lighter than the case due to the chambering. I love the sound. Unplugged it rings and is very articulate. Plugged in it screams. You really do not need pounds and pounds of wood for sustain. The guitar is finished quite nice without any noticable flaws. I thought the Nuetrik jack would be cool, but the more i play the guitar I find its sort of a pain because its the only guitar I have with that so I go to unplug, and have to remember to press the release button. The neck is very comfy, but I wish Gibson would do a satin finish on the neck. With all the updates, Gibson continues to forget the volute to strengthen the headstock. The body is thicker than a studio, but not uncomfortable. The pots are slick, and by slick I mean there is almost no resistance when turning them. Great if you want to do swells, but easy to change by bumping them. I own a lot of guitars, and while this isnt my favorite, I find myself grabbing it more and more. Great tone, classic style, won't trough out your back picking it up; the current '08 style standard is a pretty sweet LP. close [-]

Brian CravensThis guitar has all the extras already installed - Grover locking tuners, a Tone Pro bridge and tailpiece (that don't fall off during re-stringing), a Neutrik locking output jack, a setup with Plek Pro, and burstbuckers. It is the perfect gigging Les Paul. I put one through its paces, and I believe it's time to add another guitar to my collection. I like the neck (not too thick, not too thin), and the fretwork with the Plek treatment was a refreshing dash of perfection. A Les Paul Standard with a beautiful figured maple top. The legend is reborn. Gibson Les Paul Standard Plus (Plus Top, Honey Burst)
