From Our Research Team:Feels Like a Vintage Les Paul Without the Vintage Price! The Gibson Les Paul Studio '60s Tribute pays homage to the 1960's Les Paul. Prior to the birth of the humbucking pickup in the mid '50s, the Les Paul came equipped with P-90s (as does the Les Paul Studio '60s Tribute). The P-90 is known for a well-balanced sound, a strong midrange, and the ability to bounce between clean and mean with varied picking intensity. You'll find the '60s Slim Taper neck fast and player friendly. The Les Paul Studio '60s Tribute is available in a quintet of unique satin finishes.Limited Edition Les Paul '60s Studio Tribute Electric Guitar at a Glance:
Two P-90 Pickups for Vintage Tone The P-90 pickup produces a clean, bell-like tone that gets crunchy when you really lean into it. You'll love the punchy midrange and solid low end that sets P-90s apart from typical single-coil pickups. Many of The Beatles biggest hits were recorded using P-90 equipped guitars. But the coolest thing about the P-90 pickup is that once you roll off the highs, you can still get the smoky tones we normally associate with humbuckers. Minimalist Design Keeping with the feel of the Les Paul Studio, Gibson opted to omit frivolities such as a bound neck and body. The Les Paul Studio '60s Tribute really is more than the sum of its parts: old-school pickups, premium electrical components, minimalist finishing touches, and worn-in feel all merge to make the Les Paul Studio '60s Tribute a great guitar any Les Paul enthusiast would love. Gibson is only making a limited number of each finish, so call your Sweetwater Sales Engineer today to secure your very own Les Paul Studio '60s Tribute. ReviewsDestined to become a classic

I own this guitar in the left handed version. Over the years I have owned and played many guitars, but this is the most unique (and fun!) guitar that I have ever played. The marriage of the maple to... read more [+]p, chambered mahogany body, nitro finish, and p90's produces a guitar with a bite and snarl to the tone that I have never heard out of anything else. The tone is alive, and very touch sensitive. This even is evident when played unplugged, and when you are using an amp, it is just mayhem. It will give you a nice clean tone, but that bite is always waiting for you if you ask for it. All you have to do is dig into the strings a little, and it starts talking back to you in the best way. There is an open and round aspect to the tone that I find missing on the solidbody humbucker equiped les pauls. December 31, 2011 Music Background: hobbyist When I was considering this guitar, I played it side by side with the p90 equipped SG. The SG, however, is not chambered, and lacks the maple top. This made a total difference in the tone. The SG was less dynamic, and a little darker overall. My guitar does not have the black nitro finish on the back - it is a natural satin finish. I love this finish. It wears to a glass smooth surface on the neck with a little playing, but does not stick like some of the thicker glossy finishes. The whole guitar breathes and resonates. The goldtop is cool. So far mine has been durable, and looks great. Some people are not fans of the cream plastic, but I dig it. The hardware is all top notch, and the same as is found on much more expensive Gibsons. I for one do not miss the neck or body binding at all, and this guitar just exudes a stripped down rock and roll attitude. Plugged in, you can do anything, short of maybe ultra clean jazz. The pickups are versatile and powerful. They sound great, with a lot of bottom end, a mid tone that is not mushy, and treble that is sharp without being harsh. The two pickups together sound fantastic. I can make mine sound like a strat, a tele, a gretsch, or a non-p90 les paul with just a few adjustments. The tones that I can get through my pedal board are unbelievable. I use a vintage twin reverb as my main amp, and for dirty tones I cascade a Digitech Bad Monkey and a BBE Green Screamer. Both pedals are crystal clear, and the both produce great tones on their own. When I kick them in together, with your eyes closed you would swear it was a Marshall stack. The versatility of this guitar with this type of setup cannot be overstated. P90's truly are the unheralded heros of guitar pickups, and if you have not played through them I would urge you to spend some time with them. The fit and finish on mine is perfect. The neck deserves special praise, however. It is slim and fast without feeling like something is missing. It is fast and comfortable, with a solid feel. I have no issues with the frets, even though I do not believe that my guitar was one of those that received the PLEK treatment ( if it was, they did not advertise it as such). There is really nothing that touches this guitar for the money, and Gibson is doing something very special with these guitars. They are tone machines and offer a lot of quality for the money. Try to find another guitar for under a grand with a nitro finish, quality hardware, alnico magnet pickups, and a set neck. Start ticking off the components of this guitar that are the exact same as those found on Gibson custom shop models. Play one through a good tube amp, and you will be blown away. close [-] Gibson Les Paul Studio '60s Tribute (Satin Gold Top)
