The Gibson Les Paul Classic Plus features a traditional, non-chambered mahogany body known for killer tone and sustain. In 1958, the Les Paul went from a simple gold-finished, painted top to a cherry sunburst finish over a carved maple two-piece top. The Gibson Les Paul Classic Plus sports a baked maple fingerboard. Baking the wood in a special oven makes the wood water resistant, hard and stable (perfect for fingerboards), with snap and attack similar to ebony - but with a more traditional appearance. As no chemicals are used, the process also earth-friendly.
