Line 6 Gets the Low Down on Bass Amps

The first ever line of bass amps from Line 6, LowDown delivers an incredible array of dialed-in, stage-perfected bass tones. While most bass combos focus on volume and clean tone, LowDown amps offer five must-have effects and five killer bass amp models, that cover everything from funk to classic rock and beyond. Plus, the oversized, high-speed power amp has incredible articulation and bottom end punch that's ideal for live or studio work. Finally, there's a line of bass combos that give you great tone, performance, and flexibility all at an incredible price.

Line 6 LowDown 300 Pro Bass Amp at a Glance:
  • Five amp models from modern to vintage
  • Synth bass setting
  • Onboard effects
  • Direct Output for recording or sending your sound to a house system

Five amp models from modern to vintage
LowDown delivers five carefully crafted amp models that can take you from modern punch to a thunderous, full-on assault! Each model automatically dials up a great sound that you can change to your liking and save into a preset using the channel memories on the front panel.

Line 6 LowDown Amp Models Include:
  • Clean - Inspired by the Eden Traveler, this model is all about clean, funk and fusion bass tone. It'll give you all the warm lows and punchy highs you need.
  • R & B - Inspired by a 1968 B-15 Flip Top, this model is a tribute to those late 60's and early 70's clean fat bass tones. It is the kind of tone you here on most Motown recordings, as played by a pioneering young James Jamerson.
  • Rock - This model is inspired by the '74 Ampeg SVT. This workhorse has appeared on innumerable recordings and arena stages worldwide. And now all the tone of the 300-pound behemoth 8X10 and head is available in your combo!
  • Brit - Based on a '68 Marshall Super Bass, this model delivers the kind of overdriven bass sound brought to us by late '60's British rock pioneers like Cream and The Who.
  • Grind - As the name would suggest, this is for modern rock lovers, Alice in Chains to Mudvayne and Rage Against The Machine. Based on a distorted SansAmp PSA-1 into an SVT in addition to a direct clean bass signal mixed in, this model gives you that angry, clear and punchy aggression that takes your sound to DEFCON 1.

Synth bass setting
Sitting at the back of the model knob is this secret weapon that turns LowDown into a '70s classic bass synth. From funk to modern rock, this synth model delivers incredible tones and tracks every dynamic move you make with ease!

Onboard effects
LowDown features a critical set of effects that no bass player should be without! You get a full time, vintage studio compressor model, and the Smart FX knob dials up three different heavyweight effects that are custom tailored for bass.

  • Envelope filter - Based on a Q-Tron, this is the baddest envelope filter on the planet. This effect can be heard on tons of major funk and rock tunes.
  • Octaver - Based on the EBS OctaBass, this effect produces a single note one octave below the pitch of the played note, adding a powerful new vibe to your sound.
  • Chorus - Based on the much loved TC Electronics Chorus. This is the most transparent, smooth and expressive chorus for bass ever built. Using it does not reduce your low end and it's especially beautiful on fretless bass.

Direct output for recording or sending your sound to a house system
The XLR Direct Output was designed for recording or sending your sound to a house sound system when you're playing live. This output utilizes our exclusive A.I.R. processing which has made Line 6 products like POD the undisputed standard for direct recording. Whether you're playing a gig in a club or rushing off to a recording session, this POD-based direct out will give you huge, mic'd amp tone everywhere you go!

  • 300-watt 1 x 15 bass amplifier w/ horn

Low Down on the Line 6 Low Down 300

by Art from California

I purchased this amp through a friend who won it as a door prize at a local grand opening. Figures, a non-playing person winning something I needed. Anyway, my son who plays mainly Fender brand 5 stri... read more [+]ng basses, has used this amp almost exclusively since getting it. He plays in a church rock band and has MORE POWER than is needed, often having to turn down so others can hear themselves. Ease of use, effects are great and no problems what so ever. We put castors on the amp due to the weight, its heavy. Good rugged construction exterior, nice looked, A LOT OF POWER as I said. I would have liked Line 6 to offer a 2x10 or 4x10 bass combo amp, but this is the 2nd Line 6 product I've owned over the years, and have loved the amp products and would stump for them anyday. Worth the money spent. A Flextone III will likely be my next purchase. close [-]

The lowdown on the 300 pro

After playing the Lowdown LD300 Pro for a few minutes, I started to play with different settings, and there's a lot of them. It has settings that you can totally change on the fly w/ a (FVB) Line 6 fo... read more [+]ot pedal system. This amp also has a studio grade compressor built in. Has EQ's at BASS, MID LOW, MID HIGH and TREBLE. Two 1/4" inputs are for passive or active electronics. There's a 15" low driver AND a high frequency horn that you can turn on or off. From earth shaking bass to cut right-through highs this amp has awesome sound. Rated at 300 watts this thing is plenty loud enough. No problem filling a small, med stage. Very solid construction. Has a XLR direct output that can train into another amp or send to the house PA. Has an mp3 player input, built-in tuner and even a headphone jack so you can practice without disturbing others. Sweet amp at an affordable price makes this a winner in my collection. close [-]

I have played through this and I love the sound. I can go super clean or I can fatten things up and do some very extreme things with my sound. It doesn't matter if you are a classic rock fan or a metalhead, the ease of use and sound options are the best part of this amp. Oh, and it's Loud!!!!

Lots of power and features; ok sound at best

Next to a Fender Rumble, this did not sound very good at all. I tried everything, even other amps (same model). To me it was muddy, and I'm usually not too critical. The synth thing was pretty cool, but I have no technique for synth! close [-]

Our Customers Say...

Ninety-five percent of everything in this studio came from Sweetwater. My Sales Engineer is a lifesaver. I started working with him around 2005, talking to him about what my vision was for the studio. He was right there all the way.
