Good Sound Quality, Flexable
by Studio 139 from Kalamazoo, MI, September 2008
Music Background: Recording engineer
I have had this unit for about a year, I got it to do remote recording
and I find the preamps sound very good, I have had no problems
running the unit off the firewire bus power on my Powerbook or my
iBook. It is compact, it fits in a lap top bag with the lap top.
The front panel takes a little getting used to, but works well and
the software is easy to use and well designed. I have not tried the unit
to mix full projects but for simple setups it works very well.
I should also point out it is well made and seems like a quality product.
Great Small Interface
by Peter from Westbury, New York, March 2008
Music Background: Composer, Pro Musician
Blown away by the sound quality, easy to setup, no problems with the software at all, I use it as a second interface while traveling with the Macbook Pro (Intel) and to be honest still prefer it over my other RME, great dynamic especially for piano recordings, great preamps, low noise, simply amazing.
Great
by Anonymous from Redmond, WA, March 2008
Music Background: Hobbyist
Nice interface, low noise, very convenient input options, great mic preamps and monitoring control, MIDI. That said, there are minor downsides to it as well. First of all, it's a lot larger than it seems in the pictures. Notice the size of XLR connectors, and scale appropriately. Second, even though it says it can be powered from FireWire, MacBook Pro can't drive it, so you will have to use the included power supply. Not a big issue, just inconvenience.
Good hardware, BAD software and support!
by Micheal from NC, January 2008
Music Background: Producer
I owned this unit for about a year and from day one, I had nothing but problems. The drivers are extremely buggy and caused all kinds of errors (including many blue screens) and signs of instability. Support is no help at all.
As for the hardware itself, the converters are pretty nice. The unit looks great and the preamps are adequate.
With TC's support and drivers in the state they are you should definitely wait for them to improve or go with another company.
