Native Instruments Komplete is by fair one of the greatest software compilations known to man. It contains just about everything you want in your dream studio and exponentially much more. This latest installment is no exception.

Improvements over Version 4:

Two words: New software! They have finally included Massive in there! Plus, the updates for Guitar Rig and Kontakt are awesome as well. Kontakt, especially, has grown by leaps and bounds in terms of sampling. It is now much easier to create sounds than ever before. Guitar Rig 3, while not as drastically updated, adds even more tools to its already powerful arsenal of emulated guitar gear. I especially love the Ultrasonic, which finally nails the needs of players who want extremely high gain without all the fuss. Also, even more of the plug-ins also have an integrated browser in them.

Cons:
The main two reasons I gave this 4.5 stars are as follows: the disappearance of both Vokator and Spektral Delay. I especially loved Vokator in that you could mesh all sorts of sounds together with little effort. Spektral Delay, while it was mostly a nuance, still was a one-of-a-kind effect. Basically, all the spectral stuff as been removed. That could be a problem for some unless NI integrated spectral processing into their other products or make better spectral plugins.

Overall, despite the errors, Komplete 5 has definitely hit the jackpot. There is no doubt that every one of these plugins and instruments are simply some of the best in their class, and together, as the Gestalt theory states, they are greater than the sum of their parts.
