Impressive Kick Drum Sound from Any Mic!Whether you're recording or performing live, getting a good kick drum sound is crucial to the sound of modern music. You need the right combination of bottom end and beater attack without overloading or causing interference problems with the bass or synths. Now, even if you don 't have a kick drum-optimized mic, Earthworks has developed the KickPad, an affordable way to guarantee you'll get that sound!
Earthworks KickPad Kick Drum System at a Glance:
Turns virtually any mic into a kick drum mic!
The Earthworks KickPad solves a problem many small studios and live groups encounter: you have a limited number of available mics and can't fit the expense of a dedicated kick drum mic in your collection. With the KickPad's easy connection you can take almost any mic and put it in front of the kick and get great sound! The KickPad works with both dynamic and condenser mics and allows you to continue using them on any other application when you need them.
Earthworks proprietary technology optimizes kick sound
Earthworks is renowned for their premium-grade condenser microphone designs. They're used for critical recording and reference work in studios and concert halls around the world. When designing the KickPad, Earthworks engineers turned their precision-tuned ears to all the qualities demanded in kick drum reproduction. The exclusive patent-pending technology in the KickPad gives you optimized low-frequency response, clearly defined beater attack and tonally shaped output. With the KickPad all you need to do is plug it into your kick drum line and you'll instantly hear improved sound.
Convenient in-line connection
Installing the KickPad is easy. Just plug one end into your mic's XLR output and connect the other to the mic cable - that's all! The KickPad doesn't need any settings, adjustment or power connection. It automatically goes to work, turning your mic into a kick-optimized performer. The KickPad's slim barrel shape doesn't take up any rack space or stage space. Almost invisible, the KickPad could be the "secret weapon" that will make your mixes stand out! Earthworks includes a KickPad in their incredible DrumKit microphone set but now you can have one for yourself at a remarkably low price.

Earthworks KickPad makes for plug and play kick drum
by Randy Voris from Ashland, OregonI used the KickPad for a twelve band festival last week. I plugged it into a Beta 91A (preamp is built in the mic) and used it on a variety of kicks. Go figure... I didn't have to touch the strip EQ o... read more [+]nce on channel one. That is a first in my many years of running live sound. The kicks didn't all sound the same but I got what I wanted without having to EQ each one that hit the drum riser. I run subs on an AUX so that gives me a lot of flexibility. I must say I was amazed by the combination of the B91 and the KP1. I got everything I wanted out of every kick with one mic sans EQ. I'm sold. close [-]

KckPad to the rescue
by Charles Lo Tempio from Grand Island, NYMy drumer, Frankie G is solid as a rock. Problem is, he's constantly comparing our PA to the ones he hears in major music venues. Big bass cabs and thousands of watts...no matter how I eq'd my system... read more [+] he wasn't happy with what his kick drum sounded like thru my JBL PRX 515's. Finely at wits end, I nearly got on to the phone to order some kind of sub cab, without a clue as to how I'd fit it into my car. My Sweetwater tech Ryan Murphy saved me with the KickPad. Pre KickPad, the drum had a papery sound in the PA. One mention of that, and Ryan gad the solution. Simply adding a KicPad in line with a beta 52 gave the kick drum a presence I just couldn't find in my system and brought the elusive smile to Frankie G's face...and we all know what a happy drummer does for the energy on the bandstand! Thanks Ryan, Sweetwater, and Earthworks for this easy fix. I'd give it 6 stars if I could. close [-]
