Arturia Takes KeyLab to the Next Level!

With its rock-solid build quality, superior ergonomics and expressivity, and the sheer control it provides over your virtual instruments and DAW software, the Arturia KeyLab MkII 49 has raised the bar for professional MIDI controller keyboards. Onstage or in the studio, you need a keyboard controller that gets the job done. Unlike many keyboard controllers constructed entirely of plastic, the KeyLab MkII features a lightweight yet rugged aluminum chassis that can stand up to the most grueling tour schedules.

Arturia is also a top software company, so who better to decide what goes into a keyboard designed to control software? The KeyLab MkII's superb aftertouch-sensitive keybed (the same one used in Arturia’s flagship MatrixBrute) feels incredible under your fingers and responds beautifully when you're executing fast staccato lines, trills, and repetitions. Equipped with 16 RGB backlit performance pads, nine large faders, nine rotary encoders, four CV outputs, five expression control inputs, and a killer software bundle headlined by Analog Lab, the Arturia KeyLab MkII 49 puts everything you need to create music right at your fingertips.

Masterful construction

We'll just say it: most keyboard controllers are made of plastic — and there's nothing wrong with that. Modern plastics are strong and lightweight. But there's a reason most airplane fuselages are made of aluminum: it's stronger while remaining lightweight. That's why Arturia uses it for the frame of their KeyLab MkII controllers. And in honor of the many vintage synth sounds you'll be playing with your new KeyLab MkII, Arturia gave it real wood side panels and the same gleaming aluminum wheels as the MiniBrute 2. You're going to look awesome onstage!

Masterful software integration

KeyLab MkII provides a streamlined workflow solution for controlling your DAW, Analog Lab, or any MIDI-compatible instrument. The DAW Commands center gives you deep control of your software via the use of DAW-specific magnetic overlays. Working with the included Ableton Live Lite? Use the Live overlay. Switching to Cubase? Simply swap in the Cubase overlay! And thanks to the KeyLab MkII's smart, efficient logic, you can now access Analog Lab sound categories directly from your controller. Need a piano sound? Press the Piano button!

Masterful expressive performance

Arturia's KeyLab MkII 49 is way more than a MIDI controller — it's an expressive instrument for the professional keyboardist. Equipped with channel aftertouch, the keybed is perfect for adding modulation to synth sounds while playing two-handed parts, while the nine large onboard faders give you legit drawbar control over your organ patches. Grab one of the nine rotary encoders for a highpass filter sweep. Use the 16 velocity-sensitive backlit RGB performance pads to bang out drum and percussion parts. Sustain, Expression, and three Aux pedal inputs give you unprecedented creative modulation possibilities.

Masterful connectivity

With the KeyLab MkII 49, Arturia drew on its masterful analog synth modeling experience to think outside the box. In addition to 5-pin DIN MIDI In and Out connectors, they equipped the KeyLab MkII with four CV jacks to connect to traditional hardware analog synth gear. CV connectivity is an innovation in the MIDI controller category; and at Sweetwater, we expect we'll be seeing a lot more of this going forward.

Best controller ever!

I've been using MIDI controllers since 1989 and this is simply the best, most complete, high quality, feature packed controller on the market. Keys feel great, knobs, faders and switches feel great, pads are extremely responsive. Just nothing else comes close. Added a drop-down shelf for it right over my Presonus StudioLive 32S console so it's right there ready to go when inspiration hits.

Everything I need and more...

This keyboard/controller is amazing!! The software bundled with it has literally thousands of awesome presets so it's immediately useful. The mapping of knobs and faders to various features/functions and the DAW control features are huge benefits to workflow and creativity...cannot go wrong with Keylab Miki series. Awesome addition

Totally worth every cent!

Setting up a new DAW using a Mac Studio with Logic and needed a decent keyboard to round out everything else since i already chose the monitors and audio interface. Considered going with the lesser expensive Arturia Essential version, but I have played on enough poor quality keybeds to not make that mistake again. So glad Justin Dunn is my sales guy because he was able to explain the slight differences that are actually big differences in the two. When I received the controller, I could tell right away this was going to be great. The nice and sturdy chassis with the real wood is a good sign that they did not go cheap anywhere. It took literally all of 2 minutes to set it up with Logic, and everything is working as smooth as you would want. If you're debating between the 2, take the time and save for the MKII. You'll be quite happy!

All I can say is WOW

This Midi Controller/Keyboard is built like a tank. The other casing is made of yes metal, not plastic like most around this price point are. I loved Cubase since its inception and the Arturia Keylab was a breeze to setup and use right out of the box. After tons of research Arturia was rated one of the highest Midi/Keyboard controllers in the market. When I installed the accompanied software I was very impressed with the software and the quality sounds it could generate. The keys themselves are very impressive because they do not feel cheap, they feel like keys you would find on a Midi/Keyboard over $1000 dollars. So many features that I haven't even scratched the surface with Pigments yet (does not come with the controller) but after hearing the quality of software Arturia puts out I opted to purchase a full version of pigments. Arturia is serious about what they create and if your serious about music this is a no brainer, pull the trigger on this purchase you won't be sorry one bit.

I've tried lots of MIDI controllers, and this wins

I am so impressed with this keyboard. I have had it for about 3 years and I have tried SO MANY OTHER MIDI controllers, but this one takes the cake. Feels terrific (keybed and faders/knobs), but maps superbly with both Logic and Ableton. This is a productivity workhorse, and it saves me so much pointing and clicking in the DAW when I am trying to make music. One of the poor reviews claims there is no pad sensitivity adjustment. This may have been true at the time of his review, but it is no longer the case: you can now change the settings to your liking, and might I say the pads feel pretty great. If you want a robust keyboard that can do all you need for a home studio, this is the one.
