With a very sweet clean mid-range, controlled presence-lift, and an almost non-existant low frequency proximity effect, the Shure KSM42 mic should be given very serious consideration as a perfect all-round vocal mic in any studio's mic locker. Try it, you will not be disappointed.

Been using this for a few weeks now into a UA pre. There is nothing this mic cannot do. Female vocals -beautiful, male vocals -perfect. Shure made this mic for tracking vocals and it does it this with precision. No eq necessary. No audible noise, no distortion, no proximity effect and it looks sexy. This is the mic to buy when you get serious. I'm selling my blueberry. Bury me with it.
