Korg KP3 KAOSS Pad ReviewsSweetwater Advice

I have been a long-time KAOSS pad user. I still use the KP2 in my DJ rig. I was thrilled to see the new features in this KP3!! With four sample banks and more synth sounds right out of the Radias, you can't beat it. Also the new fader gives you the ability to add release time to your FX so that you do not have an abrupt change in sound when your FX are released. You can save all your presets to SD card for later use. A built-in vocoder for that robot sound that all DJs love. This is an FX powerhouse that will keep all your mixes new and exciting!
Customer Reviewsfrom Bahamas June 2, 2011 Music Background: Producer great fx unit, only one flawI absolutely love the KP3. The effects are on point, easy to control and easy to get consistent results for the most part. My only gripe about the unit is that the 'FX Depth' knob is too close to the 'Main Volume' knob, so that sometimes if you do a drastic switch with the FX Depth, you accidently knock the Main Volume up or down. Obviously undesirable in a live setting. If you don't have fat fingers, and are careful.. you can have ALOT of fun with this.from NY,USA December 27, 2011 Music Background: Recording Great Effects Uniti loved my overall experience with the kaoss pad. i used mine for my bass and ran it through my effects worked great, only reason i got rid of it was because the model i bought the sampler was broken looking to purchase another oneinSync Review

Being somewhat new to the DJ world, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the Korg KAOSS Pad (KP3) was to learn to use. Within minutes of taking it out of the box, I had my iPod plugged in to it, and was experimenting with some amazing sounding effects. The center of this unit is the lighted touch pad which controls the parameters of the 128+ effects and programs. As you move your finger around, the lights track the motion on the pad. This feature is part of what makes the KP3 an excellent choice for use in dimly lit clubs or as an excellent performance tool on the stage.
Since the KP3 has MIDI I/O, you can use the X/Y axis on the pad as well as the single fader to send MIDI control to your outboard effects unit, computer, synth, workstation, or many other MIDI devices. This is a great way not only to control the built-in synth, effects, vocoder, drum machine, and other programs, but also a number of things "outside the box" as well. The included software allows you to connect the KP3 to your computer via USB in order to save effects settings, samples, and performances (tracked motion on the touchpad). These things can also be saved on a SD card through a slot on the KP3. Among the vast array of effects are a drum machine and synthesizer, which can function independently of a line input or mic signal, and be used to create some powerful sounds that you may not expect from this comparatively small device. All in all, I would sum up the KP3 in two words: fun and easy! |
