LTD Edition with Exotic Korina!

The PRS KL 380 is a member of Paul Reed Smith's limited edition KL Series, which features three different models of exotic korina-topped guitars. Korina is a highly prized West African tonewood, producing a tone similar to mahogany's, but one that tends to be more responsive, with a sweeter midrange. The use of korina alone is reason enough for guitar aficionados across the globe to fall in love with the KL 380. And, the fact that PRS is only making 100 of each KL Series guitar, makes the KL 380 even more of a collector's gem.

The PRS KL 380 brings a unique look to the PRS line - and it immediately boasts collector's status, due to its limited edition run. Approximately 100 of the KL 380 are being crafted in PRS's Maryland shop.

KL Series - topped with exotic solid Korina
The KL 380 - and the other KL Series guitars - have bodies made from solid korina, an exotic West African tonewood with a lighter hue and a stunning woodgrain. Korina was first used to craft select guitars in the late 1950s - many of which are among today's most collectible instruments, and for good reason. That's because the tone derived from korina is often compared to top-quality mahogany - yet is widely considered more desirable, as it tends to be more responsive, with a sweeter-voiced midrange. Korina, though, is difficult to find, and also requires extra-special care during the guitar-making process, which is why you don't see many guitars crafted from this highly sought after tonewood. Suffice it to say, Paul Reed Smith's KL Series features three very special instruments - each one hearkening back to the "golden era" of guitar making, but delivering a decidedly modern PRS look and sound.

The Custom 22 was among Paul Reed Smith's first guitars - and still remains among his most popular designs. With its 25" scale length and 22 frets, Custom 22-bodied guitars are incredibly comfortable to play. The KL 380 features a regular D korina neck, an East Indian rosewood fingerboard, a smooth-moving tremolo, and PRS's prized black soapbar pickups.

Through using the most advanced finishing technology, PRS has developed fat, ultra-high gloss finishes and rich stains that exquisitely highlight the color and grain of the woods while retaining the fast, smooth feel of vintage lacquer. Because color is an important component in any guitar's appearance, PRS dyes are specially blended to look their very best under stage lights, shining with such luster and brilliance that the guitar truly looks every bit as good as it sounds.
