Great for the price
by Brian from Miami, FL USA, May 2008
Music Background: Audio Engineer/Student
I would say that these are good sounding headphones. Especially with acoustic music, they give you a good idea what your mix will sound like on most other systems. However, when mixing for post production or anything else that might have a lot of low frequency content, the bass response of the headphones limits how well you can hear what is actually going on. For an affordable mixing tool on the go, these are good to have.
ACCURATE, FLAT RESPONSE & EASY ON THE EARS.

"What a superb set of studio headphones."
Flat reponse and accurate sound virtually eliminates ear fatigue.
They are very comfortable for full day studio sessions or projects and are more suited for the serious studio engineers that want the best results for their time and efforts.
Simply The Best!

Amazingly accurate, one of the few headphones I would use for critical monitoring aplications, they are just true to the mix and keep the outside noise, well.. out..!(exellent for live aplications) very comfortable and lightweight, but stil very well built. Just make sure that whatever you plug these babies into, the impedance is matched for the best audio quality. They also have a geat auto shut off when not in use. After much research I decided to spend the extra cash on these, and they are very much worth it! (upgraded from the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro) Simply put, get the AKG 271!
Accurate, almost too accurate for headphones
by Anonymous from Southern California, March 2006
I needed a closed-bakc for the monitoring my tracks at night. I also wanted to lend these cans to my clients, mainly vocalists. Well..
It doesn't sound great; it sounds accurate. I get more accurate freq. response than the 'sweetened' sound, which can be very good for monitoring at nights or outside if you need portability.
But as a vocalist cans, I would not recommend it, unless vocalist are very picky and listens how we (engineer, composer, etc) listen to the tracks. And usually, clients don't treat the cans as they should, throwing on the chair or sofa like it's a TV remote control or something. I would get something cheaper (closed-back) for vocal cans.
It sounds pretty accurate and I'm happy with what I have. If you can't spend more than $200 for the closed-back headphones, get this one! You won't regret it!
