One of the most remarkable of these is its rounded dark rosewood laminate fretboard shaped to the radius of the '62 Heavy Relic Jazzmaster's larger C-shaped maple neck.

So, what's the story with this finish? Actually, back in 1962, Fender finished their guitars in a few standard colors. It was only after Fender would receive an order for a Jazzmaster in a custom color that they'd paint over the standard finish.
