The Full Range of Marshall Tones - in a Combo!

The Marshall JVM205C all-tube 2 x 12" 50-watt amplifier brings you the full range of Marshall tone, from crisp clean to molten roar! The 2-channel JVM205C gives you six modes, covering two independent channels with three gain stages, each with its own footswitchable memory. It's a great feature for ultra-flexible onstage switching via the included dedicated, programmable footswitch unit. Plus, the combination of vintage and modern speakers provides great tone. Two effects loops, reverb for each channel, a speaker-emulated XLR line out, and two footswitchable master volumes also grace the JVM205C.

Marshall JVM205C 50-watt 2 x 12" Tube Amplifier Combo at a Glance:
  • Channel switching and more
  • Silence is golden
  • Marshall heritage
  • From glassy to a roar
  • Two twelves - no waiting
Channel switching and more

The JVM2 series amps don't simply give you footswitchable channels. You get an entire palette brimming with different degrees of distortion, tonality, and effects. The included 4-way switch has five easy-to-read LEDs, making this rig ready for stage use. It's also programmable, so you can set up different combinations of channel, mode (green, orange, or red), reverb level, effects level, and master volume easily. The parallel/series effects loops are also switchable on/off. Marshall made sure you'll get the most out of this amp even when you're at the front of the stage!

Silence is golden

When on standby, the JVM2's emulated XLR output is fully operational, allowing you to record in total silence - a godsend for those late night recording sessions!

Marshall heritage

Every JVM2 is made at the Marshall factory in the tonal heart of England. Time-tested, traditional methods of craftsmanship and construction are combined with the latest advances in modern manufacturing technology, ensuring world-class build quality and roadworthiness. Internally, the JVM2 circuitry and layout has been kept to a minimum, ensuring the integrity of the guitar tone and an incredibly low noise floor - this coupled with meticulous valve selection and high tolerance, quality components adds to the all-important reliability factor that is synonymous with the Marshall legend.

From glassy to a roar

Two completely independent channels sounds fine, but this amp gives you so much more than that! Each channel features three footswitchable modes: green, orange, and red. These modes give you different voicings and levels of overdrive ranging from pristine clean to super-saturated, harmonic-drenched, sustain-for-days distorted. Of course, the beauty of this configuration is that you can easily dial in these tones and everything in between, and access them with the touch of a footswitch.

Two twelves - no waiting

Marshall has fitted the JVM205C combo amp with one Marshall G-12 Vintage 12" and one Heritage 12" Speaker - wired in series, not parallel. Talk about tonal immediacy. These two speakers in combination are more than the sum of their parts, delivering a complex, looser feel to this JVM's response. This is a clever design technique often employed in megabuck boutique amps, and we're happy to see it on a production Marshall.

Marshall JVM205 50-watt 2 x 12" Tube Amplifier Combo Features:
  • All-tube design featuring 5 x 12AX7 and 2 x EL34 (50-watt) or 4 x EL34 (100-watt)
  • 2 totally independent, footswitchable channels - clean/crunch and overdrive
  • Each channel has 3 footswitchable modes - green, orange, and red
  • Each mode has switch memory (reverb on/off, effects loop on/off, master volume 1 or 2)
  • Footswitchable, studio-quality digital reverb
  • Independent reverb controls for both channels
  • 2 footswitchable master volumes
  • 2 effects loops - 1 series and 1 parallel/series
  • Parallel/series effects loop is footswitchable on/off
  • Speaker-emulated XLR line-out
  • Programmable 4-way, 5-LED footswitch with memory capabilities
  • All switching can be done via MIDI
  • 1 Marshall G-12 Vintage 12" and 1 Heritage 12" Speaker (wired in series)
  • Made in England
The Marshall JVM205C packs incredible tones and footswitchable control into a great combo amp!

Awesome combo amplifier

I spent many months looking for a smaller 50w unit that had crisp cleans and high gain to accompany my Mesa Dual Rectifier 100W half-stack. After searching high and low and watching a lot of YouTube videos I found this little jem. This amp is fantastic, I can't say any more. At 50W its plenty loud and has enough juice to power its own speakers as well as my 90's JCM900 1960B cabinet. It has 2 channels (clean/crunch and OD) with 3 separate gain stages. The "green" mode on the OD channel is supposed to replicate a hot-rodded JCM800 and the orange and red are much higher gain. The "red mode" on the clean/crunch channel is essentially the same as the "green mode" on the OD channel, but allows you to make some fine tweaks to have 2 separate crunch channels. The OD orange and red are awesome (though not a huge difference between them), giving that classic high octane Marshall sound. The clean channel is crisp and glassy but can be a little bit of a pain to set the volume to match the OD channel volume without making it crunch. I use the master vol 2 setting (essentially a boost channel) to equalize it out, so it really isn't that big a deal. It has a silent recording feature, series/parallel effects loop and midi capabilities as well. Interestingly it comes with 2 different speakers a 12" heritage and vintage celestion which sound noticeable different from each other. I wish they closed the back to improve the low end response, but its still pretty good. Its a bit pricey for what you get compared to other brands and resale is a lot lower (seen used for 50% less), but would definitely buy again.

Shout out to Joe Perrone, he was very helpful and responsive.

Great Amp

So, this is a fantastic amplifier. It's versatile, and it has all those classic Marshall tones. Almost the perfect amp, as it's a combo that's…. Well, it's portable if you have a strong back and the will to move it.

The only thing I cannot seem to do is dial it in for a really good bass heavy, buttery clean blues sound that the DSL40cr seems to be able to deliver.

Another little knock for me is that is is a complex amp. Meaning that versatility comes means that it can become unnecessarily complicated. You need to really understand how to work this amp before taking it out, there is a definite learning curve that I've yet to really master.

All in all, it's a great amp that will take some time to learn, but it's definitely more complex than your old 2 channel JCM series.

I recorded guitar tracks of the cover songs below with this amplifier and my Les Paul Standard 60s

A great combo amp that really delivers.

The Marshall JVM205C is a compact 50 watt powerhouse that is like having 6 amps in one. From super clean to searing overdrive this amp has it all.
Two reverb controls and two master volume controls make it so versatile Two twelve inch Celestion speakers with extension speaker capabilites and effects loop. It's an incredible amp. I love it!

From zero to LOUD!

This amp produces that great Marshall sound even at lower volumes, and it will crank it up alos. The emulated out for silent recording is a great feature. I run it to my mixer and then out to my Mackie powered speakers. It produces a vintage cabinet sound, and in the room I'm in it's loud enough with the speakers on 2.

Sweetwater service is nothing less than outstanding. I emailed Tayor Perry about a problem I had just over a year after I purchased this amp. He put me in touch with the outstanding tech department, and they determined the amp had to go in for repair. Sweetwater fixed it and shipped it back. The only cost out of my pocket was the shipping to Sweetwater. The amp came back and is performing like new. Outstanding service. I was sure happy to know that Sweetwater adds a year to the warranty of almost everything they sell. Unbelievable in today's world.

Believe it. I have purchased 2 Marshall amps, 2 Fender amps, 2 Les Paul guitars, and a Fender Strat from Sweetwater. I won't buy my gear any place else, and they have a competitor within a 15 min. drive from where I work.

High Octane Marshall

Great Cleans, High Gain, and everything in between. My sales engineer Ryan Murphy showed me the light on this one. No turning back now. This amp is killer for all hard soft and metal tones. Great for blues and pretty much everything else. Great amp. Not sure how the other new Marshalls stack up but I'm very happy with my JVM. I thought this one was a bit expensive but then again based on all the amps I have had to buy and sell because of lack of satisfaction. IT is worth every dollar!!! IF your a hard rock, metal, or blues player pick one up for optimum tone.

There are countless "British"-style guitar amplifiers out there, but take it from the lifelong guitarists and tone connoisseurs at Sweetwater, when it comes to Marshall tone, there's nothing like the real thing. We've played them all, from vintage JTM45s and the ultra-cool Plexi reissue to modern handmade masterpieces such as the JVM410. There isn't a model among them we can't recommend with total confidence, and that includes their more affordable models too, like MG, DSL, and Code series amps. Thanks to our tight relationship with Marshall, Sweetwater's always on the cutting edge of their latest designs, custom models, and limited-edition gems. If you want iconic tone from across the pond, you want Marshall, and your Sweetwater Sales Engineer will help you find the perfect one.
