And once you hear its thumping 2.1 sound system in action, you'll be happy to ditch your amp and rock out with just your axe and your BOSS eBand JS-10 Jam Band system.

BOSS eBand JS-10 Jam Band Guitar/Bass Trainer at a Glance:

Packed with excellent play-along tracks and loaded with practice tools

Getting started with your BOSS eBand JS-10 Jam Band is a piece of cake. Just plug in your guitar or bass and choose from over 350 incredible audio loops or from 50 fun, built-in songs. You can also load up your favorite tracks via SD card media or your USB flash memory drive. The eBand JS-10 also lets you slow down and transpose your music, making it easy to learn new parts and figure out intricate solos. You can even plug in a microphone and sing along. And when inspiration strikes, the eBand JS-10's built-in recorder lets you capture your song ideas before they fade away.

Rock out with two independent channels of top BOSS effects and COSM amp modeling

What more could you expect from the makers of many of the most popular guitar and bass stompboxes of all time than a suite of amazing effects built into your BOSS eBand JS-10 Jam Band? How about killer COSM amp models - the next best thing to carting around your full-size amp? In fact, your eBand JS-10 comes absolutely loaded with tones on par with those found in the flagship GT-100 multi-effects processor. What's more, you and a friend can both rock out with your eBand JS-10 and enjoy totally independent effects, making it perfect for collaboration and music lessons.

Powerful 2.1 sound system makes your guitar tone spring to life

As good as their effects may be, most personal guitar trainers like the BOSS eBand JS-10. Even the ones with built-in speakers simply fall short of the mark when it comes to producing truly satisfying sound, unless you actually plug them into a real guitar amplifier. But when you play through your eBand JS-10, you'll be happy to leave your bulky amp in your band's rehearsal space. That's because BOSS loaded the eBand JS-10 with an impressive yet compact 2.1 sound system, by building a powerful little subwoofer right into the body. There's nothing like hearing your music in rich full-frequency detail complete with room-shaking bass.

Boss eband JS-10 audio player and trainer

Am a bass guitar player, and am still learning. I love this device, but I can't understand the instructions on how to play my bass guitar with all the songs on this JS-10, am not a audio smart person, I don't understand some of the definitions in the instructions to actually play the JS-10 correctly.I didn't want the bass guitar lines in the songs, I thought I could soften the bass lines or cancel them on any song so as I could play my bass guitar with the song, but at this point I haven't figured that out yet. The eband JS-10 is a great device to play with if you're a good lead guitar player, but just to play the JS-10 with only the bass guitar I find it is design for rhythm and lead guitar players, not the bass guitar player. I need to talk to a SweetWater engineer to help me with understanding the instructions sent with the JS-10, I just know that am doing or missing something causing me from playing my bass guitar with this great audio JS-10 device, but to thought players that have a much better understanding of these types of things this JS-10 is really a great audio device to play and loop and add there own tracks and songs an and sounds unbelievable.

Still happy with mine after 4 years.

This little machine can do a whole lot of things that were just not available a few short years ago. I love that you can isolate section's and instruments and lower the tempo to be able to learn leads that other wise would take me a lot longer . I can over dub looped tracks and separate section's and add my drum machine in to give me backing beats, I can also add vocal's and backing vocal's to my recording's which I like and there are effects for vocals as well, if you add on a separate unit I believe I read about that has vocal effect's and plugs into the JS-10. Another thing I love is the compact size and the amazing sound you get from it if you have some good speaker's . Some of the preset's are not to my liking but you can go in and tweak it to the exact tone you want any use these pre recorded tones and amp' simulation's to create any tone you can think of . It may look like some kind of clock radio but don't allow that to fool you this is no toy. In my case I was having some beginner issues and needed to learn how to get the tones I was looking for by dialing in the amp sims on the JS 10 and I learned lot about finding a decent tone I like now on my Amps alone with very few peddles. This is a great little unit that is tough and I've had mine a number of years now and never had a single issue with it at all. I can say that it's what I use most on my alone time to practice away from other people and in my headphones it sounds amazing and flattering to my some what hit or miss playing at times. If you are a newer or even a seasoned player this thing is a blast to practice with. If mine were somehow stolen or destroyed I would be right back getting another one I use it THAT MUCH.

Awesome for improving on guitar

I actually own the original JS-8, which as far as I can tell is basically the same as the JS-10 In overall functionality. The JS-8 has been discontinued for a few years now so I'm glad this model is still available. Probably the most fun I've had with the JS-8 is plugging in and improvising lead guitar over the MANY onboard backing tracks, which include a nice variety of genres, styles and tempos. Where the fun is is that the guitar patch you hear is automatically set to match the style of song you select. It's pretty amazing how good this thing will make you sound. Additionally, you can patch the audio out of the built-in speakers into your monitors or stereo system for much better sound. This product I highly recommend especially if you're a beginner or intermediate player looking to improve your playing.

I love this machine

I love this machine however I have a question. I played a small gig last week and I'd like to plug this in to a PA to get more volume. This is my backup band for now. What would I need to plug this in for larger gigs ( beyond living rooms and front porches ) ?

Excellent Companion to Method Book Learning

I bought this 1 1/2 years ago, from Sweetwater. When I first began learning guitar, I was too anxious to know as muck as I could different guitars, pickups, amps, pedals, different styles of playing, etc. to be able to limit myself to a method 1 book. At this point, I'm pretty well grooved in. I've got over 350 hours in on Rocksmith 2014 Remastered, time in learning from Youtube videos, friends who play, and have spent time improving (alone, or with drum rhythm loops). I've finally come back around to my method 1 books. Having several of those, along with songbooks for that level (e.g. Hal Leonard's Easy Pop Melodies series), I'm staying very busy and having lots of fun, but only thanks to the Boss eBand JS-10. Without it, it wouldn't be near as fun or convenient.

Here's how I use it. Import the CDs that come withe these books into the JS-10, or in cases where downloadable tracks are provided online in lieu of a CD, I download and import those. I'm surprised that even with as much practice as I've done previously, some of the method 1 pieces are too fast for me to be able to keep up with. With the JS-10, I can slow them down to a level I can keep up with, then slowly increase to normal speed. This has worked VERY well. In some cases, I increase the speeds beyond normal. This has been a Godsend for this kind of practice, and is enough to justify the purchase.

That said, I've also begun to have fun learning to play commercial music at slowed speeds as I figure the notes out by ear (e.g. Under the Bridge, by the Red Hot Chili Peppers). If you play a note at the same time, you can tell if you're too high or low, just like tuning a string to a recorded pitch from another guitars string.

Future plans: I've been told that one of the most important things to do with an instrument is to play with others. I don't have that luxury at the time being, but I believe playing along with method 1 tracks (mentioned above) partly satisfies that criteria. What it doesn't satisfy is the creative side (improvising [making up your own notes and rhythms that go along with someone else's playing]). For that, there are websites that list well known songs by which key they're in. As I learn more about keys and scales, I'll be improving things as I play along with my favorite music/musicians (everything from Eagles to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Metallica, etc), and I know the Boss eBand JS-10 will be perfect for that!

And it's small and highly portable, meaning I can throw it in a suitcase when I travel!

The only con I can think of is: it can't be powered by batteries.

I still prefer to plug my electric or acoustic electric guitars into my amp, even though the JS-10 has fantastic effects and sound quality, in my opinion.

As for all the other features this unit offers, please see reviews by others who are more qualified to evaluate them.

What Do Our In-house Gear Experts Think?

David Hess

As a career engineer and musician, I have high standards when it comes to my gear. I recently took up a new instrument, so I decided to grab a BOSS eBand JS-10. I use it almost every day, and I love it. Here's what I do: I take my phone to my lesson and record all the examples my instructor plays for me. After I come home, I plug in my phone and, with a single touch, record those examples to the JS-10. One touch - that's it! When I'm done, the JS-10 lets me slow down and loop sections of the audio, which is perfect when I want to nail down something new.
