Customer Reviewsfrom North Carolina December 18, 2012Music Background: Hobbyist Yamaha JR13/4 Guitar bought for 9 year old daughter for Christmas. This is a great guitar for the $$$. If you are looking to start a youngster out with something easy to manage and play, this is it. I have only messed with it a little because it is for a Christmas present, but it has tested out great. Very easy to chord and frets are perfect for the smaller fingers. You will not be disappointed with this expenditure. Golden!from Decatur, IN USA August 1, 2011Music Background: Non-musician A great starter for kids!I arrived at Sweetwater looking for a 3/4 size guitar for my 9 yr. old son who had just started taking lessons. I originally found him a guitar at a thrift store which turned out to be JUNK. I didn't want to buy a First Act guitar because I wanted a little something better or I felt my son would quickly loose interest in learning to play. He's been talking about it since he was five. I went in hoping not having to spend an arm and a leg and thought the sales people would eventually talk me into getting the Little Martin or Baby Taylor but decided to give this Yamaha JR1 a try. To my surprise, Brian was very patient and even recommended this guitar over the others. In a couple years my son will be big enough to upgrade into a full size guitar, we figure we'd save the money now and get him the nicer more expensive one later. His teacher was impressed with the guitar and my son is really enjoying learning. To him, it has an expensive look and feel and since I didn't spend hundreds of dollars, I am less anxious about him ruining the guitar. I feel it will be a good learning experience for him in learning to play and taking care of "his" guitar so that when we do take the next step, we'll feel confident spending a little more.from Columbus Ms September 1, 2011Music Background: B.A. in Music/ Choir director JR 1Well built- great price- good for students in grade schoolfrom Monticello Utah June 13, 2011Music Background: Hobbyist ,teacher Great for small beginersFor the price, and most parents being a bit nervous about buying for their child , this is a good call
