Customer Reviewsfrom Valrico, FL March 31, 2012 Music Background: Bachelors in Recording Industry, Amateur Musician This amp is amazingI have been playing guitar for over 15 years and this is the best amp I have had so far. It is like the Swiss Army Knife of Marshall's. You can go from Hendrix to AC/DC then to Cannibal Corpse with the push of a button. I find that the footswitch is extremely useful and does not suffer from volume spikes unless programmed. The built in effects are great for what they are, but do not allow super customization like a stomp box. Then again who buys a Marshall for built in effects? They are just a bonus feature as far as I am concerned. This amp has some serious pure tube volume to it, so far I am just running the 16ohm out threw a Peavey 6505 cab and it crushes. This amp is clean sounding, one of the best I have heard. Even though it has a digital pre-Amp it still gets all the great Marshall feedback you would expect. I have had this for over a month and it goes from playing Jam Band music to Death Metal on a regular rotation and I do not think it will let me or you down. I have told every musician that I know of who is in the market for an amp to test this out. It has my seal of approval and probably my neighbors too lol. from Kennewick WA December 31, 1969 Music Background: Recording Artist Amazing ampBeen playing for over 35 years and grew up on Marshalls since the 70s, I have owned them all at one time so I know real Marshall tone well. Currently I play a DrZ, a 1969 Superlead, and a Marshall 2466. This amp is a proud addition to those.First, do not let the fact that there are sixteen digital preamps in this head sway you away from giving this amp a chance, they are all very good. The Swedish company (SoftTube) who has the patented technology used for this head modeled to signature Marshall tones dead on. They are able to replicate the harmonic curves of these Marshall classics and the end result is simply amazing. I was skeptical when I saw the price but after using the amp I can honestly tell you this may be the best all in one amp on the market. The 16 preamps are as real as it gets and very configurable. A midi footswitch allows up to 28 unique tones to be saved. The emulated XLR line out works very well for home recording. The quad of EL34s keep this amp consistent with the dynamics you expect from a all valve Marshall, great harmonic feedback and sustain. This is a whole new generation of technology in this amp and while many will discount I say if you play it you will love it. The built in reverb and delays are stellar, the tremolo, chorus, and noisegate are respectable and worthy. Thought the flanger and phase was average but by no means unusable. The Master volume works well to get the volume constant between presets. Be sure to crank up the master then set the preamp volume and gain.... WOW. The 100 watt head is very loud and sounds amazing like the best Marshalls when you crank it, I am running it through a 4x12 of Alnico Golds and love it. I am going to get a lot of studio use from this and for the gigging musician this again could be one of the best amps you could have on stage with you, cover everything and does it well. Try it don't dismiss it based on prejudices. |
