Grammy-winning producer/engineer Jack Joseph Puig has been responsible for many of the best-sounding recordings ever made. If you take a look at the list of top artists Puig has recorded, you'll find more than a few familiar names, including U2, The Rolling Stones, Snow Patrol, Green Day, Mary J. Blige, Black Eyed Peas, Counting Crows, Beck, John Mayer, Sheryl Crow, Panic at the Disco!, Lady Gaga, and many more. Puig's most successful technique is to focus chiefly on the sound of the material, not the minutia of the signal processors. It's a concept that he and Waves used to develop the intensely powerful yet simple plug-ins included in the Jack Joseph Puig Signature Collection.

Each of the six processors in the Waves Jack Joseph Puig Signature Collection (JJP Vocals, JJP Guitars, JJP Bass, JJP Drums, JJP Cymbals and Percussion, and JJP Strings and Keys) use remarkably simple interfaces to provide you with awesome tone-shaping power. Instead of row upon row of tweakable knobs, you get a simple compressor, an optimized EQ, and a series of sliders that each perform one or more semi-complex functions. It's all incredibly simple to use, allowing you to remain focused on the music instead of being distracted by the user interface. Let's take a quick look at each of the plug-ins included in the Waves Jack Joseph Puig Signature Collection.

The greatest challenge for most engineers and producers is getting present and expressive vocals that sit consistently in the mix. The Jack Joseph Puig Signature Collection's JJP Vocals plug-in allows you to focus on the feel of the vocals instead of the details of the processors you use. Three mode buttons allow you to toggle between two different male settings and one female setting. In addition to the JJP Vocals' compressor and de-esser (essential dynamics for vocals), there are Magic, Space, Attack, Attitude, and Presence slider controls that make positioning the vocal track in the mix easy.

To help you get amazing-sounding guitars and bass without obsessing over compression and EQ ranges, the Jack Joseph Puig Signature Collection also offers JJP Guitar and JJP Bass. Both of these plug-ins focus primarily on making it easy to position each instrument into its own frequency pocket. If the song calls for a brighter guitar sound and a more defined bass, then you can roll off some of the guitars' warmth and dial in some extra presence in the bass. Alternatively, you can thicken up the guitars or dial in subharmonic for bass where appropriate. Mode switches allow you to adapt either plug-in to the kind of guitar or bass track you're working on. Whether you're working on clean guitar or distorted guitar, electric bass or synth bass, the Jack Joseph Puig Signature Collection has the tools you need to get the sound you want.

Two different plug-ins in the Jack Joseph Puig Signature Collection (JJP Drums and JJP Cymbals & Percussion) give you all of the control you need to dial in smooth and cohesive drum sounds. Thanks to the same powerful yet simple user interface found in the rest of the Jack Joseph Puig Signature Collection, both JJP Drums and JJP Cymbals & Percussion make bringing out specific characteristics in your drums easy. Want a bit more of a woody quality from your snare? Just select the appropriate snare setting in JJP Drums and boost the Wood slider. How about shifting the abrasive tone of your hi-hat? Easy. Select the hi-hat setting in the JJP Cymbals & Percussion and shift the Tone control.

The Waves Jack Joseph Puig Signature Collection's JJP Strings & Keys plug-in allows you to bring out or reduce the complexities in your string and keyboard tracks. Beyond the basic compression and EQ, there are four controls (Space, Doubler, Presence, and Girth) that allow you position strings and keys appropriately in the mix. You can take a relatively flat-sounding string part and turn it into a rich and wet ambience, or you can tighten up a keyboard lead and put it front and center in the mix. Just like the rest of the Waves Jack Joseph Puig Signature Collection's plug-ins, JJP Strings & Keys is designed to give you the options you need to bring out the best in your tracks, without the technical distractions that can take your focus off of the music.
