Two Channels of API-style Compression for One Great Price!

The impressively versatile JDK Audio R22 compressor gives you two complete channels of API-style compression. In fact, the topology of the R22 compressor includes the same amazing compressor circuitry that API included in their legendary ATI Paragon mixing console, so you get the same classic compression style and sound you've heard on countless hit records. Each of the JDK Audio R22's channels includes the patented "THRUST" switch, which prevents high frequencies from being crushed out of existence, even when you need to dial in serious compression at higher ratios.

The R22 particularly shines when coupled with other vintage-American-style processors, such as the JDK R24 EQ. Its easy-to-use controls make dialing the right sound quick and simple, and custom VU metering (both for output levels and gain reduction) let you keep a close watch on your levels. You can use each of the R22's channels as completely separate single-channel compressors and link them together to compress stereo material, or sum them together via a true RMS summing circuit, which provides ultra smooth multiple level compression.

I had read many great reviews about the R22, but WOW! It won me over instantly, after throwing it on my drum bus. It immediately gave the drums that 3D feel after flipping the "thrust" switch. What a great product, and you know API is proud of their new JDK Audio line when the the inspection tag has the API logo on it. :) close [-]

The unit IMO is well worth the money. Sounds fantastic and thickens things up nicely. Even if you never turn on, your rack will look better.

Buy it.

The R22 is a winner! This box totally exceeded my expectations.I tried it on a stereo drum bus first.WOW so much more punch, and the snare drum jumped out with a fatness that just wasn't there before.An... read more [+]d it did not produce any unwanted color. Then I ran it on a master bus! It definitely took away the digital harshness and gave a touch of that analog vibe and kind of glued every thing together. The thrust circuit was nice for this task as well. But my favorite so far was tracking guitars through it.I miked a Soldono half stack , with this signal chain.2 sm57's+Vintech 1272+JDK R22+Apogee rosetta 200, I could not believe the results!Best rock tone I have got in a long time. When I bypassed the R22 the difference was amazing. The unit is built very solid and looks awesome in my rack. Not to mention the price tag is extra sweet too.Makes me wonder if JDK's EQ and Preamp are just as cool.I would definitely recommend giving the R22 a shot it is worth every penny! close [-]

I find this most suitable for vocal and general compression. You can squash the signal quite a bit with no obvious artifacts. I really miss the attack and release controls but it can yield great resul... read more [+]ts without them. One of the best things about this is the output gain, you can crank it up and it sounds beautiful. I use this as a stereo comp on master buss and I really like it. You probably won't regret buying this. close [-]

Our Customers Say...

When it came time to start from scratch with the studio, I had a lot of questions. The Sales Engineers I've worked with are really friendly and patient, and the guidance they provided was invaluable; they basically helped build the studio.
