ReviewsSuper classic sound!
by Jeff from USA
The quality of workmanship was the first thing noticed out of case. Upon playing it felt like a fit in my hands like no other.I play thru a mesa 400 and mesa cabs. The tone working from this thing is... read more [+] unbelieveable from jazz to rock to country you can beat it at all! Also the low B is something i didn`t think i would use much but it now is a standard to play on. I never even go to mmy G string anymore. You will not be dissapointed! close [-]
April 25, 2007 Music Background: OK. Not great.
by Jake Dempsey from VA
Not crazy about this bass. I've been playing it for about 2 years and I'm about to replace it. It came from the CA factory with a bunch of loose screws. Parts were literally falling off of it until I ... read more [+]went over it and tightened everything up. Now, the electronics are going haywire. I'm getting intermittent fuzz/distortion. Seems like a bad component, although I haven't had a chance to diagnose the problem. December 2, 2008 Music Background: Full time musician/studio engineer As for playability and tone, it does pretty well. The bass sounds pretty good. It has the classic jazz bass tone with a modern twist. The bass I owned previously had bartolini passive jazz pups and an aguilar obp-1 preamp. I don't feel like the tonal quality of the electronics in the deluxe jazz bass stand up to the bart/aguilar set up at all, and the electronics in this bass are fender's flagship as far as there modern stuff goes. In the studio, the bass is pretty noisy through high quality cables and DI'ed through new Neve and API preamps. The bass makes some noise. Finish was flawless and looks great. Factory setup was good as well. Overall it's not a bad instrument. It looks good. That's for sure. I think Fender could do a better job with quality control. Especially for their "high end" basses. I feel I could have done better for the $. close [-] Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass V (Amber)
