Classic design
Leo Fender brought us the first Jazz Bass in 1960, and its offset-waist body, balanced design, and smooth-playing, narrow neck continue to give today's American Standard version excellent playability and a distinctive look. Players from all genres have embraced this bass, and you can see it on stages everywhere and hear it in countless recordings. As with so many of Fender's original designs, the man got the essence of the Jazz Bass right the first time, and the new American Standard Jazz Bass bears that out.

One of the biggest improvements on the American Standard Jazz Bass is the addition of Fender Custom Shop pickups. You'll love the Custom Shop '60s Jazz Bass single-coil pickups in this J Bass^®. Fender over-wound these pickups to give you more punch, mid-range, bass and output. Perfect for all styles of music, these pickups give you a fat low end, tons of thump, and that iconic Jazz Bass growl.

The perfect neck finish
Players are very particular about many aspects of their instruments, but none more so than the neck. Fender has incorporated a great-feeling satin finish on the American Standard Jazz Bass neck. The back of the Jazz Bass's neck has a slick-playing satin finish that feels worn in and ready to go. The headstock and maple fretboard have a great-looking classic tinted gloss finish. Once you play the American Standard Jazz Bass neck finish, you won't be able to go back to anything else.
