I've had this guitar for a week, now. I've been playing since 1963. I've had over a hundred guitars. There's always been something terminally wrong with them... The Godin Icon Convertible covers virtu... read more [+]ally every type of guitar and then some. The Seymour pickups are the secret: Fender-style, P-90 and humbuckers all on ONE guitar. Not only that, but the tones you can get having both pickups on and varying the types gets you sounds you can't get on any single-purpose pickup guitar: P-90/HB; HB/Single coil, etc. The active Revoicer circuit is a nifty feature as well. If you're not cutting through the band mix quite enough, just hit the button and there you are! With all the different tones from pickup combos and the Revoicer circuit, the tone control isn't really needed! The volume control is placed so well that I've put my volume pedal on the shelf. The only niggle I have is that I would prefer Sperzel-type tuners, just because it's so much easier changing strings. The stock tuners work fine otherwise. I may put a Stetsbar vibrato on it eventually, as I have a spare lying around, but I'm in no hurry.July 29, 2011 Music Background: Weeknight Wanker! As for the guitar itself, it plays like the proverbial dream. All I had to do was lower the action to my preference. No nasty fret ends, etc. To get the whole Canadian vibe going, I dug out my late 60's Traynor YBA-1 bass amp. Wow! O Canada!!! As usual, Sweetwater's service was tops. I ordered it at 4PM and Dan Van Amerongen, my Sales Engineer, had it delivered the next day at 10:15 AM! He also called a couple of days later to see if I was happy with it, etc. You don't get this service from any other music retailer, even the store down the street. When they claim the "Sweetwater Difference" it's no BS. Get an Icon Convertible and sell the rest of the stable!!! close [-]
