Sweetwater Advice

Carson McClain
The perfect solution for the home recording enthusiast. The Instrument Reflexion Filter is perfect for isolating your mic in a very reflective room. Whether you are recording vocals or guitar this is a must-have to deaden external street noises, or that ever-present computer fan sound. Two thumbs up.

I don't use it often

But I always have it handy. It can save the day. Can actually block the sound of a computer fan.

Amazing

Used it on overheads for drums. Wow! These things are AMAZING! Everybody (O.K just my recording engineer buddy's) said to me that the room I recorded the drums in was really good. But really it was just these things. Great for the overhead mics!

Eh

Didn't really do much for me. It would be nice if I could take the clamp off and attach it directly to the threaded end of a mic stand (I couldn't get it to come off though I didn't try pliers). I honestly didn't notice any reflections being cut in my room and the adjustable "adapter" for the mic doesn't do anything to prevent vibrations (you can't really use a shock mount with the mic while this thing is attached). Not really worth it for me, personally.

Limited mic choices

very limited mic applications. Sm57's fit only half-way down the barrel of the the reflexor. It does what is says it will do, but only with pencil type condensers. In my opinion, the reflexor shell needs to be bigger and the barrel needs to be larger to be able to use a 57 effectively.

Good idea, poor execution

I use these to better isolate miss for recording live performances. Their small size is great because we video, too, and they have low visual impact. The clamp system is horrible. Not only is it difficult to use, it is not very well made either.

Our Customers Say...

Ninety-five percent of everything in this studio came from Sweetwater. My Sales Engineer is a lifesaver. I started working with him around 2005, talking to him about what my vision was for the studio. He was right there all the way.
