All the recording took place at the famous EastWest Studio 1 — the same studio where countless Hollywood soundtracks and TV themes were recorded with a live orchestra. The emphasis for this plug-in and creative tool is on giving you an extraordinary range of expression — it really is like having a first-class string section on call, at any hour of the day. Every section was sampled with wide extended ranges, including almost four octaves for violins — there were 16 1st violins, 14 2nd violins, 10 violas, 10 cellos, and 7 basses. And, of course, these musicians were recorded using nothing but the finest gear, including a Neve 8078 mixing console and premium microphones.

Speaking of microphones, with this Hollywood Strings Diamond Edition, you get major flexibility when it comes to how you want your miked instruments to sound. In fact, you get to control five mic positions to perfect your orchestrations. Go ahead and adjust the main, mid, close, surround, and alternate room mics to suite your ear's every wish. You can also experiment heavily with articulations after the fact to get just the right feel for your score. The Diamond Edition includes every articulation, including multiple finger positions for all sections, three unique styles of legato interval sampling and bow change legato, 5 dynamics of up and down bowed sustains, and all the must-have articulations, including pizzicato, staccato, richocet, tremolo marcato, harmonics, and more.
