I see there was only one review on the gold version. I'm new to this library. Its huge 7 dvd's . But this is not a library you just push buttons and every things wonderful. The sound of this library b... read more [+]lows any library out there. But there's a learning curve to this one, some home work must be done. Theres videos on this library and i suggest you watch the videos to get the most out of this library. Everything String can do is right here, except bow changes and Mics. The sound is real you can hear the bow over the string, rich and lush sounding. Very warm sounding Strings, yet you can get a very low soft sound or hard sounding for action type soundtracks. I suggest the last reviewer take a second look at this library. Some patches are on the soft side ,however CC controls can fix that. 2 thumbs up for this one close [-]

Here are the things I was... read more [+] not a fan of:November 20, 2012 Music Background: Singer/Songwriter, Home Studio Recording 1) The patches take a long time to load: The loading time of about 20-30 seconds doesn't seem like that big of a deal at first, but it quickly becomes a pain. When you are trying to sample through the different libraries to find what you're looking for it becomes a long, cumbersome quest. The time adds up very quickly and throws off your work flow. 2) Play is not the most stable plug-in: I firmly believe that EastWest needs to do some serious work on the "Play" Engine if they want to succeed. Even if I haven't written out any string parts, I find that any session I just have "Play" as a plug-in will often skip or mess with the playback. And just to clarify, I'm running a quad-core iMac with 16GB of RAM. 3) The volume: This instrument is extremely quiet. Even when I set "Play" at full volume and increase the channel in Pro Tools to +12Db, I can still barely hear it within the mix. Overall, if you're looking for strings, I would continue looking. close [-] Also popular
