The HS Series is a two-way, internally powered speaker system designed to provide affordable, high quality reference monitoring for all types of recording and multimedia applications - home studios, computer-based music production, gaming systems, keyboards rigs and personal computer systems. All products are sold and packaged individually, making it easy to build flexible monitor setups and 5.1 systems.

Clean, tight low frequencies and smooth highs
The 120-watt HS80M (8-in. cone and 1-in. dome tweeter) is housed in a bass reflex-type cabinet and reproduces surprisingly tight low end and smooth, high frequency response to beyond 20kHz. Inputs include a balanced XLR and 1/4-in. phone jack. In addition to master level controls, each speaker has trim switches that allow you to custom-tailor low, mid and high frequency response for different applications.

Quality enclosures with distinctive "white cone" appearance
HS Series cabinets look as great as they sound. Enclosures are constructed of high-quality MDF material and a multiple layer finish that minimizes resonance. Design elements include a black finish and lighted Yamaha tuning fork logo. White polypropylene woofer cones recall the look of the classic Yamaha NS10M, and include low-damping rubber surrounds and full magnetic shielding.

I was checking on the m-audio and some other speakers in the same range but they colorise the sound and... produce ear fatige.

The Yamaha HS80M will give you a raw sound and very accurate in a wide range. I was ok there but the big plus was again... no ear fatigue, so I could spend endless hours twicking sounds.

I believe these are a great product, way beyond of equal speakers in the same price range and nothing to envy to more expensive ones. close [-]

This set is the the best IMHO. It appears that they sound brighter than

They are extremely good sou... read more [+]nding, maybe a little bright but if you have an EQ or a system like Audyssey you can tone that down, if not there's a -2db high cut (which I've never used but it's there). I have a huge sub too but these monitors are capable of shaking the walls without it (they just won't go down to 10-15Hz like the sub).

Basically EVERYTHING sounds good on these, like it was mixed just for them... And you can't beat the price either. close [-]

I am amazed that these sound this good at this price point. They have extremely nice tight bottom end. They sound great quiet and loud. They have more than enough power. Mixes translate well and clien... read more [+]ts like them. There is a slight bump in the upper mids. So be sure to check vocal levels on other systems. Always check your mix in the car!!! I've had them for about a year and a half. I've done many many mixes on them. I'm still pretty blown away. I think these used to be less money. Perhaps Yamaha wised up. close [-]
