Gibson 1942 J-45 Acoustic Guitar at a Glance:
A distinctive classic in all its original glory When Gibson introduced the J-45 in 1942, the understated guitar was immediately embraced by performers and artists of all stripes. While not as flashy as some of its cousins, the J-45 has a charm all its own, and its sweet, balanced sound will win you over. An "advanced jumbo" body shape and vintage sunburst finish give the J-45 a vintage appeal, while its solid construction and appealing tone have helped to put this guitar in the hands of some of the most gifted writers and performers around. Part of the Gibson Legends Series Collection, this special 1942 J-45 is an accurate reproduction of the original '42 model, right down to the tooling marks, period-correct glue, and even the case! Ultra-playable Another aspect of the J-45's universal appeal lies in its easy playability. Players often complain of having to "fight" their acoustic axe to get a good sound out of it, but that's just not the case with this guitar. Its 24-3/4" scale gives you easy playability from the first fret on up, and the string spacing really allows you to dig in for accurate chording and single-string articulations. If you're primarily an electric player looking for a great-sounding acoustic that's easy on the fingers, try a J-45! Top-notch construction Gibson got it right the first time when they began producing the J-45 in the early 1940s, and this 1942 reproduction proves it. A premium solid Adirondack spruce top and solid premium mahogany back and sides give you a beautifully warm, natural tone that will only improve over time, and the J-45's solid mahogany neck and Madagascar rosewood fretboard are crafted to provide decades of easy-playing pleasure. Though later models feature a distinctive reverse belly bridge, Gibson's 1942 model sports the original straight rectangle brige, which is also made of rosewood, and features white pins. Period-correct white-button tuners and a 1942 celluloid pickguard complete this fine instrument. Gibson J-45 Acoustic Guitar Features:
