Music Background:  Hobbyist playing guitar and various other instruments for 25 yrs.

I got my Gold Bundle in the mail monday, and had it set up in minutes (i'm not all that computer literate, mainly for surfing) and I was blown away at the sound quality. It's like I have a new guitar. I have not been able to put my guitar down since installing the program. I do recording, but use a hardware multi-tracker Boss BR-600, but wanted to get into computer recording and with this program I was able to. Scott Senn has been my Sweetwater Connection and is always Great. All my dealings with Scott ans Sweetwater make me keep coming back. Get he Gold Bundle, and get it through Sweetwater. You will not be dissappointed.

I thought I was buying an RTAS plugin for Pro Tools, but I got a lot more.It wasn't clear on Sweetwater's description when I made my purchase, but this bundle includes the USB interface (useless for Pro Tools, more on that below though) and sort-of doesn't include the RTAS plugs (your purchase qualifies you to download the RTAS version for free though).This is well worth the 99 bucks just as a standalone; plugging a guitar into the USB "Tone Port" and blasting through your monitors (I'm using 8" Events which gives some nice punch) I have burned up TWO dinners so far, just messing with amp and cab models. I'm 47, been playing since 12, but don't have a room full of late 60's plexis so I can't say how accurate the sounds are, but the variety of useful tones is tremendous and it's a ball to play with them. So, I wouldn't put food in the oven or simmer a sauce with the Gearbox fired up - that's the one serious incompatibility with this package.As an RTAS plugin, it works fine; you can automate a very large number of controls, and with all the included effects you could free up a track or two by radically (and automatically) changing sounds from, say, verse to chorus. Overall, the sound quality can get a little "fizzy", and it seems to respond to dual coils better than single. Does it sound like a properly mic'd stack at a pro studio? Not quite, but you can definitely get sounds that tuck well into a mix. Speaking of mixing, the ability to change EVERYthing about the sound, far into mixing - amp, settings, cabinet, mic models - is a time saver. Maybe it's not the best thing for the superstar guitar solo or the huge & bare intro rhythm track, but it's a dang serious tool for building a big mix. A super value, and a no brainer for under a hundred.
