The 5AR4 (GZ34) rectifier tube is common to higher-powered tube amps such as the later Fender Super Reverb and Vox AC30 (and, of course, Matchless copies). The GT-5AR4 Rectifier tube may be used to replace a 5U4 or 5Y3 and will give a faster response and more dynamic tonal results. This rectifier has a rise time from 300-400 volts that is about one half that of a 5U4, making it great for Mesa Rectifier amps, which use the 5U4. If you want a feel and response that is tighter than the stock rectifiers, yet want to retain the feel and compression character of a vacuum rectifier over the solid state setting, install a GT-5AR4.
