Tube-powered Workhorse

The Groove Tubes GT40 is a medium-diaphragm condenser that's great for a number of recording applications. From acoustic guitar to drums to small vocal or instrumental ensembles, the GT40 captures it all in great detail while imparting the sweet Groove Tubes tone that has established them one of the leading authorities in tube-based technology. A true condenser, the GT40 sports a .75-inch medium sized capsule with a thin 6-micron Gold evaporated diaphragm in a top firing design. The GT40 comes standard with a Cardiod polar pattern. Optional Omni and Hyper Cardioid capsules are easily interchanged. A Groove Tubes GT6205 tube powers the electronics in a Class A Design. Included in the system is a PSM1 power supply, multi-pin 25-foot soft audio cable, hard mount, shock mount, AC power cable and mic case.

The ultimate instrument recording tube mic with Groove Tubes exclusive mid-size 0.83" (21mm) all brass capsule with a 0.75" very thin 6 micron Gold evaporated Mylar diaphragm design. The medium-sized diaphragm excels at a number of applications, bringing the best aspects of small-diaphragm and large-diaphragm microphones into a single design that can do almost anything well. For added flexibility, the C3 capsule can convert the GT40 from cardioid to omni.

No one knows tubes like Groove Tubes and the GT40 is a prime example of that. The legendary GT low noise GT6205M tube in a Class A triode circuit design provides warmth with detail, adding new dimension to vocal and especially instrument recording. Custom-wound nickel core output transformer gives complete isolation and low distortion. The hand-selected low noise USA-made vacuum tube is powered by the auto load-compensating PSM Power Supply for extended cable runs.
