From Our Research Team:

The GS Goes Compact!

Taylor scales down their popular GS body shape and offers up the GS Mini. Crafted from Sapele laminate back and sides with a solid spruce top and ebony fingerboard, the GS Mini offers a stunning blend of warmth and presence. A great rhythm guitar that also fares well in other styles, the GS Mini is a great all-around performer. Just like you'd expect from Taylor, the GS Mini is a solid performer that will make any guitarist jealous. Just because it's smaller, doesn't mean it skimps on quality. Get the GS Mini and and take the Taylor sound anywhere!

Sweet little guitar with the Taylor sound

by Gary from Fernandina Beach, Florida

Bought this guitar because I wanted a decent short scale guitar due to my having small hands with short fingers. Read all reviews and figured I'd give the GS Mini a try. First time I played it I cou... read more [+]ld not believe the sound was possible from this little guitar - sounds exactly like a Taylor (best way I can describe the sound). Not quite as much volume as my Martin D-28, especially when using a capo, but the tonal quality is excellent across all of the strings. I added the ES Go pickup that I play through a VOX 30 set to Boutique CL with reverb and the guitar/pickup combination is superb. The excellent sound coupled with the light weight and short scale make this a fun guitar to play. I did change strings from the Martin SP lights (same gauge as the Elixor's) but that was just due to my personal preference for uncoated strings.
Also have to add that my experience dealing with Sweetwater was OUTSTANDING. I was called soon after I place my order and all my questions were answered. The guitar arrived in perfect condition, double boxed and in the well padded gig bag that comes with the guitar. All I had to do was tune the guitar up. close [-]

Taylor Mini GS

Just like the other reviewers, this little Taylor is just incredible. It is so convenient to pull this guitar out to practice. My other guitars are getting neglected. The tone that comes out of thi... read more [+]s instrument will blow you away. I am also very impressed how much sustain you get from the smaller body. The sound isn't muddy either. It's intonation is right on the money and it holds tune second to none. I've had my Taylor mini GS for about 5 months now. It just gets better and better as time goes on. You know what it's like to buy an instrument you absolutely love versus buying one that something just isn't quite 100% perhaps a little buyers remorse? Not with this guitar. I absolutely loved this guitar on day one and now 5 months later I love it even more. The sound was killer when it was new but has gotten even better now that it's nice and broke in. Every time I pick it up I can't help but to say, I just love this little Taylor. I am very satisfied with the purchase of this guitar for something that is easy to pull out of it's case and have such great tone, sustain, and playability. Brave to Taylor on this one. close [-]
