It's based off of your strings' vibrations, not a triggered oscillator, so it's latency free and responds to every subtle picking nuance of your guitar. The Solo pedal offers an octave up function when in Synth mode. You can blend any of the Roland GR-D V-Guitar Distortion pedal sounds with your guitar's original guitar tone.
