From Our Research Team:

Your Stage-ready Martin!

What happens when you merge the classic look and feel of a traditional Martin acoustic guitar with the convenience of today's modern acoustic-electric? You get the Performing Artist series, that's what! Like so many classic Martins from years past, the Performing Artist series is crafted using nothing but the finest tonewoods, with solid Sitka spruce for the top and solid Sapele making up the back and sides. Add to this a satin-finished neck, a unique neck carve, and a convenient cutaway, and you've got a guitar that's downright inspiring to play. But this is only half the story.

Martin takes the acoustic-electric guitar on an evolutionary journey, equipping these instruments with the Fishman F1 Analog electronics system. Far more than a simple pickup system, the discreetly mounted F1 Analog system offers a convenient onboard tuner as well as volume and tone controls to help take charge of your sound. This is the Performing Artist GPCPA4, a well-balanced instrument that's great for any style of music.

The perfect instrument

by Frank DeLapp from Homer, Alaska

After 49 years of playing mostly electrics I finally decided to treat myself to a Martin acoustic electric. I couldn't bring myself to pay thousands for a guitar because I've played the high dollar mo... read more [+]dels and they frankly don't sound any better than many of the less expensive ones. Not only was this guitar affordable, but my GPCPA4 exceeded even my wildest expectations in both craftsmanship and electronics. I plug it into any type of amplification and it sounds magical by just tweeking the one tone/phase control knob. My highest respects to Martin for maintaining such a high level for nearly 180 years. One note: the strings that came on the guitar sounded great but were a little too heavy for my style of playing so I dropped down to an .011 set and it plays like a dream. close [-]

Excellent Performer

This is my first professional-grade acoustic, so I can't really compare it to others on the basis of extended usage, but I couldn't be happier with it.

Fit, finish, and playability ar... read more [+]e excellent, the tone is full and chimes from top to bottom, and the Fishman through a P/A has to be heard to be believed. The Richlite finger board plays like ebony, and looks like it from any more than a few inches away.

A fine instrument at what I consider a very fair price. close [-]

Our Customers Say...

Ninety-five percent of everything in this studio came from Sweetwater. My Sales Engineer is a lifesaver. I started working with him around 2005, talking to him about what my vision was for the studio. He was right there all the way.
