From Our Research Team:The Ultimate Martin Stage Guitar! What happens when you merge the classic look and feel of a traditional Martin acoustic guitar with the convenience of today's modern acoustic/electric? You get the Performing Artist series, that's what! Like so many classic Martins from years past, the Performing Artist series is crafted using nothing but the finest tonewoods, with solid Sitka spruce for the top and solid East Indian rosewood making up the back and sides. Add to this a satin-finished neck, a unique neck carve, and a convenient cutaway, and you've got a guitar that's downright inspiring to play. But this is only half the story.Martin takes the acoustic/electric on an evolutionary journey, equipping these axes with the Fishman F1 Aura. Far more than a simple pickup system, the F1 Aura combines high-end acoustic sound images, an onboard digital tuner, a compressor, a phase control, an EQ, and anti-feedback control. In short, it's everything that you need to be in complete control of your onstage sound. Coupled with the tonewood selection, this is truly a huge step forward for amplified acoustic guitar. This is the Performing Artist GPCPA3, a well-balanced instrument that's great for any style of music. Martin GPCPA3 Performing Artist Series Acoustic/Electric Guitar Features at a Glance:

ReviewsAmazing - MARTIN GPCPA3
by David K from Madison, AL
I shopped around for quite awhile looking for an Acoustic guitar that was easy to play, solid build, and great tone. I played all the major and minor brands and narrowed my search to the Martin GPCPA... read more [+]3 and the Taylor 414ce. Both are very nice guitars - very playable and have great tone and finish quality. The one thing that really made a difference for me was the pickup system. While Taylor's expression system is nice, the Aura system in the GPCPA3 is superior in its modeling and blending capabilities. I think they have taken this a few steps beyond other manufacturers by offering such advanced electronics in an already fine guitar. With or without the pickup, this guitar has very balanced tone, and the mids do not get in the way. Plug it in and blend in some mic modeling (9 different models) and you get studio recording quality output that can be used in any live performance situation. And then add a very playable neck and fretboard. For the money, this is an outstanding player/performers guitar. Only negative on the whole deal is the case is just a generic TKL case with a Martin badge attached. For the money, a nicer custom case should be the standard. close [-]

The first time I saw this thing it caught my eye and stood out to me from all the other guitars in the store...then I played it and Wow! The more I play it the more I love it. The tone is beautiful and very balanced. The highs, mids and lows ring so clear. It will need a little bit of tweaking with the set up but that is to be expected with any new acoustic. They play it safe with the set up so a player can set it up to suit their individual tastes and styles. I am a pro musician/recording artist and I do about 170 shows a year. Yes I am a full-timer. I have been playing a Taylor 810ce for the past five years or so and I think this guitar mkay be my new favorite, although my 810ce is still very sweet. I just love this thing.Fine craftsmanship and detail. Martin got it right with this series. Look out Taylor...you've got some serious competition! close [-]

The Martin GPCPA3 is a great playing and great sounding guitar. The Fishman Aura is a very nice and versatile pickup system. I haven't explored all of the Aura's possibilities. One thing that keeps is from being perfect is the case. It is just a plain case made by a generic case company that you can get anywhere with only 3 latches and they riveted a Martin nameplate on it. I have other top end guitars all with better cases. I play out often and have this guitar in with my other equipment a lot. I'm sure I'll need to get a better case after this one goes. close [-]
