tc electronics score a big one with G-Force

I love the G-Force. It is an excellent guitar processor with phenomenal effects, first rate but easy to follow programming. I have two but use one with guitar and another for FX for my mixer. The effects are mind-boggling. Take for example the digital delay. It is taken directly from the tc electronic 2290 rack device David Gilmour used to such awesome effect with Pink Floyd. You can do the digital delay or choose the dynamic delay or tape delay emulation making the tone similar to Gibson's echoplex. You can do one channel delay, stereo delay or up to four taps (a 4 way ping pong setting) that is really mind boggling.

Look up the effects that it does... the list is nearly endless. The quality can clarity is unmatched. The harmonic distortion of my model (1997) was .003% THD. That is unbelievable. tremelo, pitch, harmonies, flange, phase, EQ, the list goes on and on. It is the only guitar processor I could ever want, but there are a few inconveniences. First it uses expensive PCMCIA SRAM PC memory cards to store your custom presets on. They are almost obsolete (I don;t know why because they are pretty handy, but they cannot withstand a drop on the floor).

And one note: this is NOT good. It has a motherboard lithium ROM memory battery that only lasts 10 years. When that goes down, and the lithium battery will eventually buy it, you have few choices, lose all your custom settings when it fails, and throw it away or send it to the tc factory service center for nearly 300$ repair charge for them to replace the 5$ battery. No you cannot change it yourself because TC solders these batteries to the motherboard, so if you have any sense, you will not try and mess with your motherboard and a solder gun.

It would help if you know a service tech at one of their few service centers. And take my word for it, you need to prepare for that battery situation. Ten years goes by WAY quicker than you can imagine. I have been playing my guitar G-Force for 14 years now, and it seems like yesterday I bought it.

If you want a professional guitar tone, and care about first rate flexibility and powerful programming G-Force is for YOU! If it weren;t for the lithium battery matter I would give this critter a 5+. This is the best there is.
