It is SO nice to have strings that can handle a death grip!! I play a lot of power chords. With other sets-they went out of tune-not THESE!!! The price can't be beat either!! I had to widened the nut ... read more [+]slot (of course!) for the low E (but you DIY selfers know this when you up a string gauge!!) My Les Paul Custom handles tuning in D very well!! It would have been nice of GHS to get Zakk's gauge right though-He uses .011's-.060-maybe I bought the wrong set?? LOL Again-just AWESOME!! close [-]

Ron DanielI have been playing the same brand of strings for most of my career. But when I was about to have my Les Paul set up for tuning down a full step to D, I went looking for a string set which would give me the most brutally heavy tone to go with the change. I found it right here. Having a 60 and a 52 on the two lowest strings is almost like playing riffs with a bass, while the 10 and 13 give you enough flexibility to solo with screaming bends like a regular set. Having Boomer GBZWs makes my Paul a dragon - it roars to be played... and breathes fire when it is! Also popular
