Ibanez George Benson Signature GB10Single Cutaway, Hollow Body Electric with Spruce top, Maple Back and Sides, and Floating Pickups - Brown Sunburst
Pure Jazz Tone at any Volume! From his days playing "out" Jazz in smokey clubs in Newark, New Jersey to vocally doubling his guitar solo in his first big pop hit, George Benson has been, and continues to be a guitarist's guitarist. His guitar of choice has been the Ibanez GB10S. Trust us, this isn't just about an endorsement deal. Jazz veterans have compared the Ibanez GB10 to Jazz guitars only spoken about in hushed, reverent tones, and found that they preferred the Ibanez GB10S.Ibanez GB10S George Benson at a Glance:
The Ibanez GB10S Starting with the basics the Ibanez GB10S has 22 medium frets, spruce top, maple back and sides, 3-way pickup selector, two tone controls, two volume controls, and two special George Benson floating humbucker pickups. The body is a smaller sized, single cutaway design that is more comfortable to play while offering the thick Jazz-tones you would expect from a larger body. The thicker spruce top in conjunction with the smaller body serves to reject feedback. The back and sides of the Ibanez GB10S are maple with a brown sunburst finish. Unique features of the Ibanez GB10S are its special ebony bridge, which completely transfers tone from strings to the top, and a die-cast bridge that allows separate tension adjustment of treble and bass strings. Other features include floating pickups, ebony fretboard, strap button mounted on base of tailpiece, and a strap button for the neck, which is unmounted but included in case. The features of the Ibanez GB10S are well thought-out, from the tension adjustable tailpiece, the bridge humbucker height adjuster, brass nut, pearlized tuning knobs that won't corrode, to the rubberized ring around the volume and tone knobs for better control. Clearly the Ibanez GB10S is the result of George Benson's input from years of playing. The Quality Craftsmanship of the Ibanez GB10S The fit and finish on this guitar is top notch with a surprising attention to detail. The f-hole bindings are clean, without the plastic shavings on the edges you see in lower quality guitars. The binding around the body is flawless and the neck joint is pure craftsmanship. The frets are the smoothest and most polished we've seen in some time, and the inlays (mother of pearl and abalone) are perfectly placed, without black glue to cover up mistakes. The headstock inlays are immaculate and the body and neck finish are smoothly applied. Inside, you won't see wood shavings or paint spots on the back. The quality and craftsmanship of the Ibanez GB10S fully merits the praise it consistently receives in this category The Sound of the Ibanez GB10S The Ibanez GB10S is superb for that warm jazz sound as well as a brighter cutting jazz tone depending on pickup used. The tone of the GB10S is so pleasing whether it is plugged in or not. When practicing unplugged, you will still know you are playing a high quality jazz guitar. Here's what George Benson himself has to say about the sound of the Ibanez GB10S. "The GB10's smaller body doesn't have a lot of resonance, but it has a lot of articulation. the notes don't melt together like on softer guitars. It maintains the tone while articulating each note. No other guitar gets that sound." Ibanez GB10S George Benson Features:
