by Phil Candella from Louisville KY
Thought I would offer some details on my experiences with this case. I got it a few weeks ago but it is pretty easy to figure out how this thing will handleover time. First off this thing is HUGE!! W... read more [+]hen I stand next to this case it comes to hip level. It is about a foot and a half wide. It is covered in a really heavy canvas like material. Not gig bag stuff. It is much heavier. The frame is wood maybe 3/8” The frame is covered in carpet like a speaker cab. The frame is wrapped with padding. It is not real thick maybe ¼”. My amp (a Marshal JVM 210) fits in with a lot of room to spare. I use foam to go around it to make it not move around in transit. The 2 side storage compartments fit a ton of stuff. In just 1 I can get: my 4 button channel switch, wah, Talkbox w/ hose, 2 more pedals & cables. The frame is VERY sturdy. It is sturdy to the point that for gigs & practice I place it next to my amp & put my 4 space rack (Eleven Rack & a Furman) on top of it. December 29, 2011 Music Background: gigging in the bars a couple of times a month The zippers on this thing are very heavy duty. I doubt they will accidently open or break from use. There are 2 nice BIG storage pockets on the outside of the case. These are great for cables set lists, lyric book or all that stuff I forgot to pack and need a convenient place quick before I load my SUV. I would have liked to have the front panel of the case have some padding. It really has little or none. The outside has a tow handle. It is for towing ONLY. Unless you are stupid you will not lift or carry it by this handle. Even though it is for towing only I would have liked it to feel a little sturdier. It’s is not bad but it’s plastic. There are also rails on one side so you can push it up or down stairs. The wheels are ok hard plastic barrel shaped about 3” each. I would have liked some bigger wheels that could absorb rumble when towing it. However, I rather tow this thing into a club than wait on someone to grab an end of a large flight case. The down side is because this thing is so big and heavy when packed getting it up stairs by yourself is a pain in the butt. Bottom line this thing very sturdy but it is not a flight case. It does not pretend to be and does not cost $300.00 or more. I think it is overpriced by about $50.00. However, If you want something to protect your head/investment from trunk rash, make it easier to carry into a gig with your accessories, stay a little safer from the occasional jostling around going to and from gigs and even keep stuff on top of this thing this case will do it. Would I spend $169.00 for this thing again? Yea I would buy it again. close [-] Sweetwater Advice
Carson McClainThis is one of the best investments for a guitar player who moves his amp head often. If you are gigging, or practicing across town, protect your investment from trunk rash. Also popular
